just because ultimate launcher isnt check on your today tab doesnt mean processes dont launch at startup...Like a config recall..Make sure in its options you have start on startup unchecked.
to hard reset hold call and end buttons down. use the stylus to soft reset the device while holding them down.. keep holding them down until it boots..you will have the option to hard reset appear...
