I dont think he means sim unlocked... but if you unlocked the hard-spl... I'm assuming it is because you said you flashed another rom which worked, so my geuss is its unlocked but the flash didnt take... i had a very similar incident on my vogue a couple weeks a go... check out this thread to see how I solved it:

Ultimatly, if you search on how to get the touch pro into bootloader mode manually (there has been much info on how to do this posted, so it should be easy to find) and reflash, you should be good... make sure all your connections(usb hookup, etc) are secure and ur doing nothing else on you comp (remember not to let it hibernate or anything while flashing either)...and youll be fine... it's definatly not bricked... just sounds like the rom image got lost in the transfer
