Regarding you friends problem, as it seems like something no else has experienced on that rom... its sounding like it might be something your friend is installing himself... Id suggest, taking a look at all his apps sometime... hey may have a cabbed up trial version of something?
I have posted over there too but just though I would post here too as not only a help problem but a informational problem too. I know for sure it's not the programs hes using cause, well, I installed them and am running the same .cabs. I updated him to version 8 to see if it will happen again.
