astro is right about a locking program... s2u is oone of the more popular ones, but basically any one will do as long as it locks the screen... your phone already has the option to lock built it... it just not as user friendly as some third party apps...

also you can download some tweaking apps like advance config tool or diamond tweeks, and from there you can change the settings so that your screen wont cut on when you receive a new sms/text...
