I used PIMBAckUp and as stated previously in this thread that it has been an issue for myself as well. I wonder if I uninstall and then maybe reinstall PIM... It's an idea :)
i think i see a trend!
I am not sure if there is a fix or you have to hard reset for a clean slate. I never use it for my contacts personally because i heard of these problems. I have just been syncing with outlook contacts and have never had a problem with multiple messages being sent.
I am not sure but i think i read over at XDA that sprite backup worked better but you may have to look into that to confirm.
