Rss Feed Samsung smart TVs and monitors will be secured by CryptoCore in 2025

Samsung is committed to keeping its users safe from cyber security threats. To that end, Samsung announced that starting next year, Tizen OS products, ranging from smart TVs to digital signage, will employ its new proprietary cryptography model called Samsung CryptoCore.

Samsung's proprietary CryptoCore is a software library that encrypts and decrypts data during transmission and storage. It has already earned the FIPS 140-3 (Federal Information Processing Standard) certificate, which is recognized by governments in 10 countries, including:

  • United States
  • Canada
  • UK
  • Germany
  • France
  • South Korea
  • Japan
  • Singapore
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
The FIPS 140-3 certification requires comprehensive cryptographic testing of security, integrity, and reliability. Devices running a cryptographic model that is FIPS 140-3-certified, such as Samsung CryptoCore, offer top-tier protection against privacy breaches.

Coming to Tizen devices in 2025

Smart devices have become ubiquitous. There is a lot more going on in the background for modern smart TVs, smart monitors, and even refrigerators. All those SmartThings and IoT features are powered by complex systems that need to be secured against cyber attacks.

The story continues after the video

Although Samsung devices powered by Tizen already take advantage of the respected Samsung Knox platform, the addition of CryptoCore will provide even better security.

Samsung says its CryptoCore proprietary cryptography module will be fully integrated into Tizen OS 9.0 starting in 2025.
