Overview: Apgar scores are a numerical expression of the condition of a newborn infant on a scale of 0-10.

In 1953 Dr. Virginia Apgar established a method of exploration of the newborn in order to establish the side effects andalusia obstetric management, anesthesia or resuscitation.

Exploration, andalusia minutes of birth, is very useful as a guide for assessing neonatal asphyxia, if carried out at five minutes predicts clinical status later.

Signs that are valued are:
- Heart rate.
- Respiratory effort.
- Muscle tone.
- Irritability reflected.
- Color.
For each sign is given a value from 0 to 2 points, the rating should be expected between 7 and 10. An index of 10 means that the product is in optimal conditions.
