The Galaxy S25 Ultra is supposed to be the best of the best, Samsung’s ultimate smartphone for 2025. But not everyone agrees it’s a clear upgrade. In fact, some Galaxy fans (and even a few early adopters) switched back to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. And the reasons were surprisingly simple.



A more comfortable design and a more functional S Pen



The Galaxy S24 Ultra struck an almost perfect balance. Its display is flat, but the edges are slightly chamfered and rounded, which stops it from digging into your hand during everyday use. It looked boxy and professional but was still comfortable.



The Galaxy S25 Ultra, on the other hand, has a completely flat frame, and that small change makes a big difference. It’s harsher to hold and, frankly, it doesn’t look as elegant. The S23 Ultra still wins overall when it comes to design flair thanks to its curved display, but between the two “flat” Ultras, the S24 Ultra simply feels and looks better.



Then there’s the S Pen. The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Bluetooth S Pen wasn’t just for scribbling. It doubled as a handy remote for taking photos, controlling media, and more. The Galaxy S25 Ultra drops Bluetooth entirely, turning the stylus into a basic writing and drawing tool again.



Sure, not everyone used those Bluetooth tricks daily. But for those who did, it was part of what made the stylus special. Without it, the S25 Ultra feels like a step backward, and for those users, the S24 Ultra is the last truly complete Galaxy S Ultra.



The Galaxy S25 Ultra isn’t a bad phone by any means. It’s fast, powerful, and built to last. But it also feels like Samsung gave up a bit of what made the Ultra unique. Sometimes, progress means knowing when to stop. And for many Galaxy fans, the S24 Ultra is where Samsung got it just right.
