Hi -- I've just bought a Touch. This is my first smartphone, so the learning curve is pretty steep.
I installed the software and tried to sync it. It wouldn't sync because I don't have Outlook as my default mail client. I'm not using the Touch for work email and I use Thunderbird. Not sure if I even WANT to sync my email, but is there a way around this? Also, how do you obtain and install software on the Touch (I'm very interested in iCube, and others mentioned on this forum) if you can't sync? I may not be able to read replies here for a while, so if you have any help for me, please email me at nn21tsd02 (at) sneakemail (dot) com (that's a zero in the first part of the address) Thanks in advance for anything all of you knowledgeable forum users can help me with. |

This was one of the first threads I read that gave me a little understanding of what some things are, and what to do. Once you have a knowledge of installing one app, it's pretty much the same (don't get me wrong, SOME apps are installed a lil diff) So read up on that thread. One of the first steps though would to get your Activ Sync going, you will need to have your phone hooked up to your PC to get your CAB (CAB files are explained on the given link as well) files to download. So go the search area and search for Activ Sync. If you have problems finding anything using search, just browse through the HTC Help forums, and trust me, you'll find something useful to read up on. you should still be able to connect without usign outlook. so download activesync is you use xp or windows mobile device center if you use vista. thAN JUST DO RESEARCH HERE IN THE HELP DESK TO HELP YOU AND IF YOU HAVE ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO MAKE A THREAD AND POST THEM UP. sorry bout the caps there. most applications are personal likes so its what you like so search the forums and you will find many things that you like.

Thanks for your responses. I am STILL completely lost. When I connect my Touch to my computer, I can see it in Explorer as "Mobile Device" but I cannot see ANYTHING else -- there are no applications, etc. there at all. I haven't even been able to get Gmail registered on the phone, it keeps saying it can't reach the server. (I am using Windows XP Media Edition)
I did read the thread you pointed out but I really don't have any idea where to start. I'm getting frustrated with this phone as it appears to NOT be very user friendly in terms of customizing. Again please respond to the email address at the top of this thread if you don't mind because I don't always have time to come here. Thanks. |
