[NEWS] Galaxy S25 could feature MagSafe/Qi2 charging

We are likely just one month away from the launch of the Galaxy S25 series. Multiple reports suggest that Samsung's next-generation flagship smartphone could launch in January, bringing a delightful surprise in the form of Qi2 support.

Galaxy S25 reportedly features Qi2 charging support

According to reliable tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S25 features Qi2 support for wireless charging. Qi2 is based on Apple's MagSafe standard and features magnetic alignment for supported devices and accessories. While Qi2 was announced two years ago, very few non-Apple smartphone brands have adopted it.

Samsung hasn't used Qi2 in any of its released smartphones yet, but there is one Qi2-compatible Samsung device: Galaxy Ring. The Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra could be the next Samsung devices with Qi2 support. However, they will be limited to 15W wireless charging.

Qi2 also supports several accessories that have magnetic alignment. So, you might be able to use cases, covers, pop grips/sockets, and wallets that attach to the Galaxy S25 magnetically. However, magnetic alignment is an optional feature in Qi2, so Samsung could choose not to support it. In that case, you could kiss goodbye to magnetic accessories.



Here are the expected battery capacities for Galaxy S25 series phones:

• Galaxy S25: 4,000mAh
• Galaxy S25+: 4,900mAh
• Galaxy S25 Ultra: 5,000mAh

The Galaxy S25 is said to feature 25W fast charging, while the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra likely have 45W fast charging support through the USB PD PPS standard. None of the phones are expected to come bundled with a charger. All three phones support Wireless PowerShare.
