Default HTC and iphone setup

Hi,

New on the block. Mind you I just got my Touch HTC a little over three days ago. lol

Just a bit of clarification needed. I love the tutorial page btw. Everything at a glance makes things alot easier. But I do have a questions for the first two steps in the instructions for the iphone interface install:

2. Once download is complete extract the cab file/ another zip from that folder and put it on your desktop.

-I wasn't sure what to do here or what "extract the cab file/another zip" required me to do.

3. Now connect to Activesync or Windows Mobile Device Center and drag that folder over to your storage card. ( I myself made a folder named cab files on my storage card to keep everything neat and nice and easy to install in case i have to do a hard reset and all.)

-So I created a folder called "cab files" as you suggested on my card. I connected the device to my pc and opened the sync folder on my desktop....Where do I/can I gain access to the storage card from the sync folder on my pc during this process? Or do I just drop it into the sync folderand manually place it in the "cab file" folder later?

ok im confused i think that i changed that and now its a straight cab file (it should have lots of loose files inside) if it does your ok on that part(99% sure its a cab already now) than what you want to do is connect to activesync and it will give you the option of main memory or storage when it first pops up and all.... than you can choose and find the cab folder in there.... i hope this answers your questions. if not ask me again lol.... thanks and welcome... aslo enjoy the touch aka vogue its a great phone

Hmmmmm. For your sake and mine I hope that clever "dummy" bit was an automated reply. lol

And I say this with a smile as I am not a vicious lady:)

I believe you have the expertise on this matter and you're not a meanie. Again, I am EXTREMELY new to this WHOLE THING. While I read every bit of the terms before hand, I am human and will make mistakes-but then there seems to be a zero tolerance for newbies here. lol

Just trying to give you as much info on the problem the first time to minimize all the confusion. From now on I'll say things like "the bit below it" or "that dealy there I don't quite get." -kidding

My question to you still is lol,in short....there are two links given. Which one do I use for download? The first redirects you somewhere. I used the second one, it downloaded (saved it to my desktop) and when I opened it, nothing was in the folder. Its a cabinet icon... Should this be so?

Thanks:)

Hi!

I followed the steps to the letter but when it came time for the prompt to download on the device it didn't happen as you descibed:( lol When I double clicked the file in my Touch I didn't receive a prompt to choose where I wanted to install it (device or storage card). Instead, it downloaded after the double click and I recieved a message that the said "Straight cab Grumps Iphone-Wow Edition" download unsuccessful. HeYelp me:/

Hi again,

Well...tried your suggestion but no change. It still gives me the install was unsuccessful prompt. And I never get a prompt to choose where to install it.

Hmmm. Maybe its me....This is what I'm doing:

1.Downloading it from the page. Saving it to my desktop. Note:there's never anything in the cab folder. Wondering if thats normal or not.

2.Open the ActiveSync, storage device icon and then cab file folder. I place it in that folder. Second time around in the sync folder itsef.

3.Let the device and the computer sync. Removed the connection when it completed

4.Went to folder and double/single clicked the file.

Have I missed a step?

Once you double click the file from your phone...Save it on your storage card.

Then go to your Start then Programs and you will see a Shortcut that said Iphone

and bam you there! If anything hit me up on aim CuzinBucksBx

Hi!

Thank you so much for your response:)

So...
After sync and
After I double click should this prompt appear automatically or do I pull up the save to the storage card option manually?

Also, initially, do I save it on the device itself from the computer and then do what you've instructed? I thought that through the sync process you saved it to the storage card then moved on from there? Because it wasn't working for me, according to the instructions.... does anything that happens before your directions change?

Ok lol. From the beginning...How should I go about installing this? lol
