Default backgrounds really bright?

sorry if this has already been answered, I spent about 20 minutes searching around and didn't find anything.

when i put a jpg image in my documents folder and set it as my background, the image on my phone is always very light, even if the image i make is pure black.

any idea how to fix this?

Thanks Dash, that worked perfectly!

I'm suprised more people don't run into this, I couldn't find it in the manual or anything.

lol word i know there is quite a few that do run into it and glad that it worked for you. the reason that there isnt many that do is because they usually use themes and not the wallpapers.
