Heres A CAB I Created That Will Force ICS To USE Sprint Instead Of PAM. Based Off Of Info Found Here. Verified Working.

neither bro its for the diamond phone itself and it allow us to tether the internet for free from your phone.

hey dash... how is this different from the Dharvey internet sharing fix cab that you posted a while back, i had that on my touch and just installed that on my pro... should i uninstall that, and intall this instead?

yes the touch one wont work on your pro..... .you have to use this version..... if you have a custom rom though it will be auto included anyways.

ok dashy i installed this and for some reason i dont get any signal...like it says connected and all but it doesnt let me connect to the internet on my lappy...this is what i did..extracted the zip file then installed the cab, soft reset, went into internet sharing,connected my usb,it said connected but when then i go into firefox on my lappy and it says firefox couldnt or cannot connect to network....any idea why??

what connections do you have ste on your lappy for internet?? wireless...lan?? i never used this be for...but seems like u almost have to make a new connection..

when you first connected the phone did you choose internet sharing from the list? and what rom are you running?

umm well i think so..i connected my phone and then went into internet sharing and waited for it to connect, then after it said connected i opened FF and got nothing... :( i have the stock sprint rom..(which could be the problem)...

could be..... and just use wmwifirouter and you will be fine for sure ( i did this since no customs were out since i got the phone early.)

so i just installed this and this is amazing! works perfectly on my touch pro! i was just wondering though, could using the tethering application raise red flags on your account at sprint for any reason such as high data usage? (i have unlimited anyway)

just dont go balistic and download gigs upon gigs and you will be fine..... just cant have like 10 gigs of data usage off a phone in one month,.

this is not FREE internet for anything. all it is, is that if you have internet on your phone, it lets you use your phone as a moddem for free, so you get the same internet connection from your phone on your pc, via sync cable.

are you trying to do this through the registry? if so you need resco registry, than once you install, go to hkey local machine/comm/ internet sharing, delete the "extension" key found there, crate a NEW key value "MaxCMCon=o", then go to the settings folder found there, and change the force cell connection to "sprint". soft reset and try now.

You have to have a data plan so you wont be charged .

Im downloading it to my folder that is for the diamond, than i go to programs ,my documents and its right there and when i try to unzip it and thants when the error pops up(central directory was not found)

uh? thats alittle above my expertise.i thought it would be as easy a intsalling other cabs i have installed but it just give me errors when i try to unzip it from my documents

Also bear in mind, that its sharing w/e data plan u currently have, using pc internet is much more data intensive than basic mobile browsing so if you have a limited data plan keep that in mind, and even if u have an unlimited plan, bear in mind that a lot of carriers idea of unlimited has a limit, so it isnt necessarilly advisible be be download large hundd meg files and such like movies or desktop programs on a consistant basis!

Ok... stupid question:

I see this is a zip file... do I just copy the zip file to my phone and run there, or unzip on my desktop pc then transfer?

(Reason i'm asking, when I try to extract on my desktop pc, it tells me that the file cannot be extracted because the compressed zip folder is empty)

Any suggestions? (or should I just buy the WMWifiRouter and be done with it?)

Trying to tether a stock Sprint TP for internet sharing on my Asus netbook.

(I don't want to mod the rom from stock for a month or so just in case I have to send it back. Just got it from Sprint, and i'm pretty sure it's a refurb)

WMWifiRouter is located here, so search for that and it can put you in the right direction. You can also search for another WiFi Sharing program just recently presented. I would assist with that, but heading out the door now, sorry.
The above program works, but don't have time to test the DL. Did it in the past and it worked fine. Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies-

I went ahead and got PDANet. Works great on the stock rom.

I never did get the zip files to open/install. No idea what was up with that.

Guess it's a Vista 64 bit thing.
