To flash a rom (Am I doing this correctly)

I am about to go into flashing my first rom and I want to make sure I am doing this right. I have read threads and responses over and over again but I just NEED to be sure. My phone is the only way to get online (I am tethering) so I need to make sure I cover all my bases.

[ I have read that the Stock 6.1 is crappy and that either BJs or Kaos's ROM is the way to go. I want to get the most out of my phone so I hope this is the way to go. ]

I have an HTC Touch (Vogue) and currently on the stock 6.1. After reading posts I think the Kaos take 1 Rom is for me (so far its the most popular among the Vogues). I have transferred all my pics, ringtones, apps, cabs, ect to my storage card, I have downloaded the ROM, downloaded cokeman's unlocker, and I have downloaded the "RUU folder"... tell me if the steps are correct or not..


1) Download ROM (Done)
2) Make sure ActiveSync is running
2) Run the unlocker
3) Place the RUU_signed.NBH into the "RUU" windows folder (I extracted the ruu.rar file before hand)
4) Run the romupdateutility.exe within that same RUU folder
5) Let it do its thing!!!!!!!

Am I right?


I am doing this as a real life practice. My Touch is beat up (I might explain in another post) and I think I will try to get another one with my insurance. I will use the knowlege I gain from doing this for my next Touch and future WM phones.

sounds like you've pretty much covered you bases pretty well. I'm also sure that it's probably appreciated that you did such thorough research before posting and aren't just saying how do i do this without actually looking into it. Which ever rom you decide to use (and from my experience you can never go wrong with kaos) that you fully read his posting about the installation. At times he'll state that you have an extra step in the process such as pulling your battery midway to account for page pooling and other things like that. Good luck and enjoy!

All you do is this.. Flash to the STOCK OFFICIAL Sprint REV GPS 6.1 ROM (the lastest one from HTC site). then run the unlocker... then flash to the ROM... Easy... if you get the .nbh file, you can download a ROM like Kaos or another and replace the .nbh file thats in the ROM with the .nbh file you downloaded on the custom ROM... FYI i would use DADE 3.0.5 ROM! Clean version... GOOD REVIEWS!

for the touch im a fan of the dade version also :> jsut seemed to run a little better for me than the hybrid version...... if you want touchflo on your touch i would definately go with the dette rom and thats what im using now on my touch and im loving it :>

btw your steps are right but be sure to read the entire post and afte any flash be sure to take the battery out for 1 minute and than reboot back up and than do a hard reset to make sure that everything will be running like it is supposed too before you install all of your apps. :Elffy_11:
