Sprints 3G claims and GPS

Ok just opened my aol email to check it and I see a sprint ad which states as follows

"Experience One click GPS at 3G speed"
Samsung Rant 49.99 then a picture of the phone

Thought sprints network was predominantly evdo these days dont understand why they would advertise 3g when iphone uses 3g and sprint pushes evdo and evdo rev.A to attract more to their network.

Any insight to this?

sprint is mainly 3g these days..... my small town of just 13,000 has just recently upgraded to evdo..... and they advertise the rant cuz its a very affordable 3g phone

I must be spoiled out here in CT 99.9 percent of the time im in evdo unless i force roam my phone i usually get 3g. but for sprint to advertise 3g and evdo is their main seller aka power vision makes no sense...just an observation

well ur lucky..... here in the middle of now where (kansas lol) im lucky to get evdo.... like i say we just recently went from 1x to ev....... and like 50% of where i go isnt 3g.... so consider urself lucky lol

new england all the way with the REVVV AAAAA :) yeah I always have EVdo and that is what i was thinking about the EVDO vs 3g. Everyone knows what 3g is and we can rely on other's advertising of 3g and just say that our phones have that technology.

Uhh... Sprint advertises 3G because EVDO IS 3G...it's their specific 3rd generation of mobile phones technology and standards. AT&T uses HSDPA.

ya im gonna go ahead and drive home what sin man said... 3 g stands for third generation phone... refering to the features the phone is capable of and fastest speeds for download and upload data... its been abused by markerters for quite awhile now... i bet if you asked the average user if their phone was three g their respone would be of course i have "place carrier here" ie Sprint. ATT Verizon or even Tmobile. the point is it is just marketing strategy, all the carriers want to come out and say they have the fastest network with the best coverage everywhere never drop calls and the coolest phones... but nobody can say they actually because there is no one leader in all these catigorys all the time and if they advertised it they would be hit with false advertising law suits all the time... which i bring to attention the one pending against alltell from verizon. so they through out a word that everybody knows but nobody actually knows the meaning. like if i came out with my own carrier that only covered my house and i advertised i had the largets fastest 3g network that has spoffle... what the hell is spooffle? i dunno but dont you want it if im the only one thats got it and i have everything that everyone else has to??? lmao!!! anyway hands down at this juncture sprint has the authority to say there network is 3g because they do have consistently as fast speed as everyone else and faster on most cases... and no one can argue that sprints phones arent cool anymore with the rant, the highnote, the lotus, the instinct the diamond, and of course the big daddy touch pro!!!
