what am i missing

hey ive been here forever haha this site is great! thanks for all your help so far. ok so i downloaded winrar extracted the file (the original black diamond theme) and i placed them in my storage card on my phone. now when i click on it on my phone there is one that is a zip folder and one that just says it needs an application to open. i think im missing a step. i read over and over in the noob section too. What do you think it is? I have the htc touch from sprint. thanks!
