New tech could make consoles obsolete
What if you could stream top-end games to your TV, just like a Youtube video that you can control? You'd never need to buy a console again.

Re: New tech could make consoles obsolete
I honestly don't see this taking off like the consoles have. I remember when there was sega tv that you hooked up to your cable and could play sega games. and the on the ps3 and xbox you can buy certain games, but when you get down to it people want to physically have the game. This new tech might find a niche and survive but I don't think it will ever be as popular as console gaming.

Re: New tech could make consoles obsolete
Yeah I could see that happening down the line technology wise. But I don't think Sony and especially Microsoft are gonna let that happen. I think it still might go in that direction, but the big boys are gonna make technology that competes with this. And there you have it- the console war all over again.

Yeah that's true. And what if the system crashes or the network becomes unavailable for maintenance or for updates? Gamers won't have the option of playing offline. |

Re: New tech could make consoles obsolete
not to mention that lag of my keyboard and mouse was sometimes unbearable let alone sending multiple keystrokes and mouse/controller movements to a server which then sends the data back to you about what they did...yeah just doesnt seem like a good idea as a whole to me

Re: New tech could make consoles obsolete
For this to work, they will have to ensure that games would be stable even over low bandwidth. I can still play games on my 360 even if xbox live isn't working.
