[Check4SPAM] RE: golf gps
[URL Attempt] User received an error - No action required!
Lots of searching and looking several pages deep, I noticed there are not that many gps freeware programs... or "opened" ;) programs out there to run on on a windows mobile phone that utilize the gps for golf purposes. Thus I thought I would start a thread that would make it easy for people in the future... to find programs with peoples likes and dislikes about each and links to find and try such apps... the one I like is http://www.gudensoft.com/golfgps/ there is a cab file link, under download it now if you want to do so from your phone... its basic and gives you four pin options, plus if a course file isn't available you can use the course builder via google maps and build drop your own pins... here http://www.gudensoft.com/golfgps/coursemaker/ even cooler in my opinion is that if the yardages are off you can adjust them on the course, quickly and efficiently, doesn't even interrupt pace of play... a valuable tool if you are going to play the course again(especially in same day, i.e. set the pin position as say middle or hazard)... in my experience... center was about dead nuts on using course builder and the front and back yardages were anywhere from +/- 9 feet... much i think depended on the zoom quality... and picking the diff from the fringe and putting surface. My only dislike of the gudensoft program is the basic gui... it would be pimp if it showed a little satellite view of the green with the front, center, and back yardages. I am interested to see what else others might be using or recommend... and would like to stick to "open programs" or free programs... This all got started because a buddy of mine bought a sky caddie and I was like oh ya... my phone can do that... and come to find out, his sky caddie is quite a ways off on a lot of yardages and he can't adjust the mistakes they made and share the updates with other users...a huge oversight in my opinion. At any rate... hoping to see some cool programs like the onpargps... if anyone has seen something like that, drop me a line. Props to the moderators of this site... it has made my paper weight (factory issued mogul) into a useful freaking tool. So please share what your are using or have seen with some links for those searching in the future...please include your likes and dislikes... |
