Xbox backwards compatibility update

I went out and bought an old Xbox game yesterday. After a long day I went home to play it. I put the game into my Elite Xbox 360 and everything looked good, up till the splash page of the game began to play. I got and error saying that my Xbox was not backwards compatible.
I searched around and found a fix for it. This may be OLD NEWS for most but for some of us this can be very frustrating. So I present to you the fix.

just extract the file and burn it to a DVD or CD, place this into your Xbox 360 and play it like a game. It will give you a confirming message and you can now play most Xbox games. I hope this helps some people

Yes I know, I am offline at home so your right, but not a big xbox person MS has many faults and game console patches?? that pretty bunk!

I've modded my xbox360. However, I have never tried playing any regular xbox games on it. Not saying I haven't wanted to or not, but what my question is is this. I have marvel vs capcom 2 and am curious to know whether or not with this patch you still have to be online for it to work and download something or does this game not work at all to begin with on the 360?

you have to stealth write the disc so you can play online and not get caught...... i think venum had a tutorial on this somewhere here at Wckediden.

Sorry i Think I worded what i meant wrong. I meant just to play the regular xbox game i thought you had to be online just to download a special patch for each and every xbox game each time you play them.

Well I was under the impression that in order to play a regular xbox game on the 360 that you had to be online. That is the question I am asking in general.

I am asking that if I had this patch would it make it to where I could play without being online. "Not xbox Live"

I dont know who told you that you had to be online to play reg xbox games. You dont. You would have to be online to download the patch to play the games, but with this CD, it installs the patch for you.
