Does One UI 6.1.1 bring AI features to Galaxy devices launched in 2022?
In less than two weeks, Samsung released the One UI 6.1.1 update for all flagship Galaxy phones and tablets that launched in 2022 and later. Samsung went about it in descending order: flagships launched in 2024 got the update first, followed by those launched in 2023, and finally the devices launched back in 2022.
However, it appears that those who own an eligible device that launched in 2022 are wondering if they get the new AI features as part of the One UI 6.1.1 update. They are likely doing so because Samsung didn't bring most AI features to flagship devices launched in 2021 following Galaxy AI's introduction earlier this year with the Galaxy S24 series. Galaxy devices launched in 2022 get most AI features with One UI 6.1.1 Well, allow us to clear the air: if you own a flagship Galaxy smartphone or tablet launched in 2022, you get most new Galaxy AI features with the One UI 6.1.1 update. Devices eligible for One UI 6.1.1 include the Galaxy S22 series, the Fold 4, the Flip 4, and the Galaxy Tab S8 series. The list of features includes Portrait Studio, Sketch to Image, live voice call translation in third-party apps, and a listening mode in Interpreter. You also get the option to compose emails and social media messages from a small snippet of text, create live wallpapers from any image, turn motion photos into animated stickers and GIFs, translate and transcribe voice notes directly in the Samsung Notes app, and many more. One of the features not available for the Galaxy S22 series, the Fold 4, the Flip 4, and the Galaxy Tab S8 series is the ability to quickly save Instant Slow-mo clips. Instant Slow-mo is a feature that lets you slow down any video in the Gallery app by long pressing the screen, and since it wasn't released to the aforementioned devices with One UI 6.1, they don't get any related improvements with One UI 6.1.1. These devices also miss out on the Energy Score feature in Samsung Health, which shows your physical and mental condition based on your sleep and physical activity on both your phone and Galaxy smartwatch. Overall, the One UI 6.1.1 changelog for flagship phones and tablets launched in 2022 is quite similar to the changelog for devices launched in 2023 and 2024. You can check out that changelog below.
