(E-BOOK) Wireless Internet Telecommunications {DOWNLOAD}
This comprehensive book gives you a hands-on understanding of the techniques and architectures being used to provide voice and data services over wireless networks. It serves as a unified "how it works" guide to wireless Internet telecommunications, systematically addressing each of the technological components and how they fit together. You get a clear picture of protocols like RTP for multimedia transport and SIP for session control signaling, and see whats being done to tackle tough challenges in QoS control, mobility management, and security in the wireless environment. The book discusses at length the cutting-edge IP Multimedia Sub-System (IMS) of UMTS to illustrate how each of these crucial components can be successfully implemented in a real-world wireless IP system. This one-stop resource also explains enhancements to the next generation of the Internet protocol (IPv6) that will offer greater support for wireless IP networks, and includes a look at future potential applications for wireless Internet communications. Supported by over 100 illustrations and packed with references for further research, this practical volume offers you an integrated perspective of the converging wireless and Internet technologies that will be indispensable to your work in the field. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition. in general the author writes well and presents the material in an easy to understand manner. I read more carefully 2 chapters: chp 9 on IPv6 and Chap 11 on evolution to 3G. In Chp 9, the author gives a good overview of the shortcommings of IPv4 and some additional motivations for designing IPv6. Then, the author highlights some key features of IPv6 e.g. address allocation, mobility support, auto configuration etc. In Chap 11, the author describes briefly how GPRS works and the motivation for moving to 3G. The author provides a good high level description of UMTS and the various features available in different releases of UMTS. The author explains how QoS and security is supported at UMTS and compares UMTS with cdma2000 development. Wong takes us through what might be a crucial next buildout of the Internet. To permit future and better wireless usage. So the book gives a background explanation of the current Internet, version 4. Then, it goes into explaining Mobile IP, which is an enhancement that tackles the difficult problems inherent in having an Internet node wandering like a cellphone. You can get an appreciation of the scale of the puzzle. Where a user might take her device from one wireless Internet cell to another, and expect to transparently access the Internet, without any manual system changes. A vast step in complexity beyond DHCP. lt;br /gt; lt;br /gt;Wong also maps out IPv6, for a future when the current IPv4 address space gets exhausted. He also suggests ways that v6 can implement quality of service and mobility. http://rapidshare.de/files/7838264/W...s_MAZ.rar.html |
