there is no "base software" perse but if you wanted you could flash a custom ROM to improve the phone's memory management and overall performance but it's not necessarily recommended for noobs as you can ruin your device by flashing a custom ROM...to learn more read
this if you dont want to flash a rom then no you can just start installing whatever you want
