Default TurboBoost - Ram Emulator

Hey guys.
I've recently gotten a 6700 on metroPCS (upgrading from my 6600 that I couldn't get activated...) and I've put all the 6.1 goodies on it.

Any time I try to run Opera, I get out of memory errors.

With Vista, MS started doing TurboBoost - or something like that - where it would use any USB flash drive as "extended ram"

My terminology might not be right - but that should give you a basic idea of what I'm thinking...

Since the main drawback of both the 6700 and (from what I hear) the 6800 mogul is the lack of ram available, would creating something like this for use with the SD cards be possible?

I understand the drawbacks - the device would probably slow down a little - as ram is faster than the SD bandwidth...
Running programs from the SD card while using the RAM emulator would double the SD card transfer needs...

But I'm sure there are some good temporary uses for this kind of program...
Like... say... when I'm running Opera from internal storage; ;)

Any ideas?
I don't have a clue how to do this - I'm not a programmer - but I think it'd give the 6700 a whole new level of functionality.

Thanks!
Kalash

opera takes quite a bit of memory to run..... have you tried opera mini? the 6700 is short on memory so you hasve to be very careful with it especially on 6.1.

I did on my 6600 a year or two ago - and it was completely un-usable.

I haven't tried the new ones.
I also haven't tried it with the java built into the system...

I should just go that route huh?
You're no fun =P

(So I take it a memory app like that isn't plausible - especially for some giddy geeky kid like me to just run opera? :p)

I don't think anything like this has been developed yet for WinMo PPCs. It would take quite a bit of work.

Dash - I'm not sure if I like you...
Teasing me like this...

Does that mean it's POSSIBLE?
Because with 16 gig microSD cards....
That's a LOT of potential "soft"ram and storage.

I think there are a lot of people that would worship you for working on this.
(More than already do.)

Meanwhile - I cooked up another rom that's a little cleaner (I only miss a few of the extras...) - and so far so good.

Thanks for getting my hopes up. ;)
I'll keep waiting patiently.

oh its possible :> think of it as your hard drive on your pc. you can partition the hard drive and place that partition aside for whatever you like.... now think on partitioning a chunk of your storage card and than tricking the phone via registry to read that partition as the ram and not the main ram that it reads now (hopefully both) but 16 gig card is overboard because you wont want more than around 400-500 megs of ram on your phone for the mere fact that the processor wouldnt be able to keep up with it and you would be running slower than you did with less ram.... it would just take some sitting down and a lot of working out to make this happen but both i and our admin VenumX think that this is a very possible task to accomplish

Tease =P
Well...
If it's possible, it'll happen sometime.
If not - I'm sure you'll find out.
