Kaos's **** Sprint Custom rom Build 420 Take 2

My Rom is based off of nueROM v2.0, build 5060 with some stuff removed some added...all and all very stable...

I updated to the latest official release of WM6.1 from the leaked Kaiser roms. XIP has been ported too, seems like it had some new memory management features too. Enjoy, and let me know if you encounter problems. As a quick test of speed, try going to file explorer and opening the windows directory.

This is a clean rom, so it doesn't have much on it. YOU MUST USE THE NEW BOOTLOADER (Olipro 2.40) for this rom to work.

**Known issues:
GMAIL users are forced to use POP3 Email due to auto-detection (EDIT: Omegax posted a fix: type in gmail wrong and fix it later).
(5050+) = crashes imgfstools on nbmerge. You'll need to manually repair the partition table before using nbmerge.
(5050+) = PLEASE TAKE OUT YOUR BATTERY AND PUT IT BACK IN, THEN HARD RESET AFTER FLASHING. The new partition table requires a full reset.

Please post any requests in this thread and I will try to do my best to accomodate them, provided that it does not involve adding applications to the rom. IF you find out how to fix something, please post it so I can fix it in my next release.

If you are new to flashing, please read this provided by quantumforce1. No, your phone is not a brick if its on the tricolor screen.

You must have radio 3.35 installed on device before flashing..

you must have sprints 3.35 rom installed then unlock your phone and install this...it is a rar file i made..contains everything including ruu which installs rom.....just click and run ....

Point taken. I'm a bit new to the PPC world and base a lot of my assumptions on the operation of standard PC. But I'm learning slowly. :thumb: None the less, the ROM rocks and anything I can do to enhance that I'm willing to try.

20 bucks but it will still say kaos edition on it....and i will retain creators rights....so its not something you can post or spread around it will be a one time direct link to it for you.

i always thought it was better to load tweaks onto phone. but i see you put it on sd card. maybe i'll try that. i have a 4gb card and install about 30 apps and always install on phone. i also thought like the other guy about the speed. so thanks for clearing this all up.

its more up to the users preference where you install your apps, kaos installs some into sd and dash install into phone, and I for one install everything into my phone.

bro no they are built into the rom and cannot be deleted. and it unlocks the external rom which has the sprint junk in it which all you need to use is the iota really.

dont worry about it tweetybear...you can try to disable the dialer skin under advanced config application...might work not sure....

taking off your dialer worked but it left a box with my recent calls. i'll just stick with yours and get used to it. i actually did read the build log but forgot about it. guess got too excited when using my first custom rom:yahoo:

alright dude ive finnally got this flashing **** figured out but have now ran into some more problems.I just flashed over from the no2chem 5063 to your rom but my internet still does not work. any advice. appreciate the help.Alltel is my carrier if thats a problem but i did flash the 3.35 rom first.

did you do the soft reset so you didn't get the Sprint settings from the 3.35 ROM?

soft reset (pressing the little button near the mini USB port) when your phone is fully booted up for the first time and is about to load the Sprint settings (there should be a little window that pops up)

you have to run the iota cab in the extended rom,g to file explorer in programs and go up top and pressw the drop down and select extended rom then select iota, install to device and let that run.after go to start/settings/personal/phone/services and select internet then ht get settings,let that run and you should be golden,and dont worry about the sprint customizations b/c kaos has disabled that in this rom

ive never heard of this problem with any rom before....... maby kaos has seen this happen on his rom.

Nah man, only thing I can think of is maybe you did follow all the steps... I had that problem my first time and had to reflash!

i don't have that problem either. i just did what you said and i don't see the problem. maybe you have to take out battery and hard reset after flashing to the rom

i'm having problems with this new rom. i had the sprint 3.35 rom then flashed no2chem 5060 rom then i flashed kaos's rom, took the battery out, then hard reset it, then installed the iota cap to the device before trying to install my apps. now i'm finding that i can't install anything. everytime i try to launch a cab, the device freezes, but i can just hit the ok button and then it unfreezes. i'm not sure what's going on. some help would be great. oh and if somebody could clue me into what the iota cab does that would be great too. and finally, if i can still get the sprint nav back on this rom?

i would think bad flash try reflashing it again...

iota shouldnt do anything to your background....that just gets your internet settings...the navy blue is the true wm 6.1 color theme...i left sprints bloat ware out of this rom...

1. try to reflash could have just been a bad flash.
2. the iota cab contains the features that you need to be able to connect to the internet.
3. and yes you can get sprint nav on this rom without problems.

I did, but it dont matter. The pros of this Rom offset the one con. I would try reflashing but im to lazy.lol. Plus its not a big deal to soft reset.

strange i never had it...but im anal and always reflash my rom twice..just to be safe...lol

so I used your rom for a couple days before trying a new one dcds 3.0.1, because im with alltel(key word **** sprint..lol). what im getting at is that now trying that one i still like yours..my downfalls were that my battery life sucked, no mms(searched for the treo hack but couldnt find) and when i try to sync my email it would always direct me to a windows live link vs just letting me choose hotmail and then correct my sync options. let me know thinking bout flashing back...thnx

Hey guys, new to the site, and BTW love it, you guys really have done a excellent job modding these bad boys! Now I'm new to the site, but not new to mods but I have a couple quick questions I haven't seen posted in the thread... I'm on Sprint , and if I load the rom will I need to do any setup ( or should I record any info before flashing ) to put back in after the flash. I use mine for my business and I'm a little concerned about bricking it ( I don't have the best luck LOL ) ... Also it was mentioned you need to unlock the phone first, will Sprint know it is unlocked and does it matter in anyway? Anyways Great site, I appreciate the info and I have to say I wish I had the knowledge to do roms and programming also.. Very cool stuff!

Oh BTW does Dash do these for folks ( I'm in MI also )

lol yes i do these and can meet in person if around me and all.......... and you can relock the bootloader back to the stock one f you want. and you will lose all info on your phone when you flash just like doing a hard reset.

ok lets not start a sprint riot here, last time there was a debate people got banned and infractions were given....and just to let you kno alltel has nothing on sprint...alltell is our shadow!!!!!!! Now kaos rom is my fav rom on this site, if you read some of this thread it will tell you alot of the advantages of this rom and the choice is yours as to what rom you should have.

Dash I found it, yeah don't know how I missed it but I did.... Looks pretty easy to do the flash. I tried following the links for the unlocker and the item linked below it but says I don't have permissions... Do you need to be a Premium member to get access?

did you follow the rules and take the battery out and hard reset after you flashed? if not do it now and follow the directions in the future.
