Hahah yes I agree. I would LOVE a Touch Pro. Unfortunately (or fortunately since it's free to me) this phone was given to me by my company. They were willing to upgrade me but it was to a Treo 800w. While the Treo has 3 times the memory I don't like the form factor with the square screen and the keyboard below. And there isn't much support on modding it here on Smartphonejunkie is there?

So since it's a work phone I do get Powerpoint presentations for work I need to look at it. I'll check Microsoft.com but I think this Take 5 is not the stock rom or atleast under menus Kaos had remove some stuff.

Thanks again Kaos for doing this Rom and everyone for all the help and great work. I hope to get knowledgeable to the point I can contribute as much as you guys do here.

Okay I tried both the Office upgrade from Wckediden and from Microsoft.com and the CAB for storage card I found here but none of them istalled. On the upgrade one it keeps saying it can't detect a Windows Mobile Device Center (i am on Vista). But I am connecting to the phone fine.

Oh and I hope this is now not off topic of this forum - it again stemmed from powerpoint not being on this ROM. Someone please feel free to let me know if I need to move my question to somewhere else. Thanks!

well bro,if you NEED power point, thn i would suggest you try a different rom. thats the beauty of Wckediden! you can always find something that works for you!there are many roms here, and if worst comes to worst, you can always go back to stock.

HA - That definitely is an option. For now I am going to try to see if I can't get it on there. The Kaos rom is perfect except for this one thing so it would be a shame to have to not use it. This one is so highly recommended and rated and I believe stable. Do you have a recommendation of another one that's pretty much as good as this but has powerpoint? I think I get confused when reading about the ROMs where they say based on Bell version so and so etc. I don't know what that means. I just know I am looking for WM 6.1 some radio 3.42 or later and 3.56 or later

most all roms come with office installed but they aren't actually in the programs list open your start menu and its under a folder called office directly on your start menu.
but this rom does have office on it. and this is a sprint rom.

Actually I think Kaos was very detailed in this one and stripped out some of the office components such as Powerpoint and One Note to get this lean. If you look at the list for Take 5 it only has Excel and Word vs say Take 3 which would have it but it's based on older stuff I believe.

yeah i dont run this rom no more but i do know that it didnt have all of the word components nonetheless it did have some

Hey monkeyxiv - thanks for the link. Yeah as I mentioned before I got that one but I have a different issue - it won't let me install it to the phone because it says it can't detect windows mobile device center and it's an msi so I have to install from laptop. I know WMDC is up b/c I've been installing all day and transferring files back and forth so I don't know what the deal is there.

Alright here's the update. So you were right, updated WMDC and it let me install but then it said that the upgrade version was older than what was on the ROM so it didn't do it. Of course KAOS would have the latest and greatest. I had another OFFICE 2007 cab that always said installed unsuccessful but I tried using SKTOOLS to do it and it worked but now messed up Word and Excel. Hahaha you gotta laugh...

im pretty sure its because he doesn't have the entire office suite on the rom. if you need office that bad i would suggest running take 4 enhanced its just as good if not a little better

I was able to get more Office thing sorted out but was interested in your suggestion of Take 4. However doing a search only brings back Take 1 and Take 3. I can't find the thread on Take 4. Also in the Take 5 thread it doesn't have a Search at thread level to find stuff.

Question for you on Radio. It says Take 5 is based on 3.42.5 radio but when I look at the boot up it says 3.42.02. Can I flash an update radio to 3.42.50 without losing everything I have done? Or do I have to do that before everything or with a custom rom?

dont search for the take number and all just type in kaos rom* and you will find what you are looking for..... ( or you could go through the six pages of roms or so and you will find it quickly that way too..... )

yes you can upgrade without losing everything for your radio but you might as well get it a ro mthat you want at the same time though also...... jsut my thoughts.

well ive stated my opinion on his roms numerous times his take 4 enhanced was probably his best rom because it didn't have a memory leak at all and held up its memory flawlessly. but i got annoyed with whenever i wanted to change the volume while ina conversation i would have to touch the screen to pull out a bubble thing then touch the volume then it could be changed where as i could just turn the scroll wheel and change the volume.

you could try aebutton plus to remap and see what that does for you. (not sure if the volume option would be given though.)

i havent had any speed issues on my side what-so-ever these past couple days so not sure about that but anyways with the mem leaks no it doesnt have any that i found when i used it for over 6 months or so...... it was a very nice clean rom that you couldnt go qrong with running.

I spoke with Dash and he said KAOS has Awesome ROMS for the HTC 6800 (AKA Mogul). He also said I didnt have to worry about carrier as the customizations are removed. I saw this one and thought awesome Ill give it a try (this is for my friends, i have 2 who have US Cellular and the PPC 6800). but now reading this thread I am concerned that I may be wrong and this might not work right for US Cell? Sorry to annoy you and take up your time. I have been searching (using the search feature) for a KAOS ROM for this purpose and it looks like this would be the best.. Thanks.

as i told you it will work fine... all you have to use is the dcd carrier cab for your service provider and you will be fine.....

I say this assuming you have the Mogul, since this is a Mogul ROM. If you have a Touch Pro like your profile says, then you better not try to flash this ROM or you can brick your device. That being said...........

Just think of it like this, the bigger the page pull, the more memory the phone has to process things, therefor the faster it is. However, since the mogul is low on memory as it is, you dont want to take away too much of it for the PP. So 6mb is a pretty good number to have. You'll see, if you upgrade to the diamond or pro (both of which have a ton more memory then the mogul) the PP on the ROMs will be more around 24-32 MB.

I am trying to flash using the MicroSD method and I get back to the rainbow screen with the following text.

I am going from Manilla 2d mogul to Kaos Mogul Hybrid Take 5 wm 6.1 gps & Reva. your problem is the name.... you willl need to name it VOGUIMG.nbh

Still a no-go. Renamed the file to VOGUIMG.nbh and still get the rainbow screen.

If you are flashing to a MOGUL, I believe, the NBH file needs to be renamed to TITAIMG.NBH and not VOGUIMG.NBH . Try that...

since telus is cdma than you are good to go and all you have to do is run the dcd telus carrier cab.

its just a cab file that you run after you flash to give you all the settings and ## codes for your provider......

thats just what he has the pagepul set to inside the rom...... thats why you must take your battery out and hard reset after the flash so it can reset that in the pheone so you get the better speeds....

so i flashed last night but my phone keeps soft reseting after about 5 seconds of being turned on. If i try to touch anything on the screen it resets. Does anyone one how to fix this?

So i tried re-flashing, went thru it all but now when i turn it on it gets stuck in HTC screen saying i have no radio! Now i can not sync to my PC. Ant ideas anyone???

relock your phone. take the storage card or a random storage card redo it to fat32 then flash using sd card method. to me it sounds like you had a bad flash. easiest way to fix this si to reflash and as soon as it starts up run the updates radio. if you have to you might have to take to sprint and have them flash there stock rom then just reflash. thats worst case scenario. you also might try a hard reset usually even if you have no radio you can hard reset and typicall even without a radio first boot will go through then run the new radio. in short im basically giving you methods of getting your radio on so the rom will actually run.

As long as you can put your phone into manual bootloader, youll be good. Your comp may not say its connected through activsync, but as long as it says usb on the bottom of your phones tricolor screen, and not serial(while its plugged in mind you) then your good and ok to flash.

thanks to every body for the help on flashing or even fixing my Mogul. Monkey and DASH i tried all of those things except the SD Card. BUT......... the good news out of this is I NOW HAVE a TOUCH PRO from Telus!!!!! Thanks for your time guys, time to check out the PRO stuff now!............(maybe not quite flashing yet!!!)

he can't flash it if he can't start up the phone without locking it up or connect in. and he would require to be able to enter bootloader to reflash. so his only real option would be sd flash

only way to enter bootloader without sd card would be to be able to connect to the computer. but he said he can't connect and his phone freezes on boot so he can't enter bootloader.

about his only real option would be to sd flash or take into sprint.

I've had this rom since last year and overall this is the best but i have a couple of small problems: the battery life doesn't last long and when charging the phone charging light flashes red or orange instead of solid red or orange and when the battery runs low (after about 30 minutes of talking on the phone) the blue tooth light comes on and stays on. I was wondering if anybody else experienced this? and if so how did they fix it?....thxs in advanced!!
