Custom Start Icon/Battery/Speaker and EV 1X Icons

Decided to consolidate all the information in one thread on how to change your start menu icon/speaker/battery and Black EV and 1X icons.

Speaker and Battery Icon
1. First install the sdkcerts.cab found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2791165&postcount=1
2. Install Taskbar%20Icons%20v2.cab from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=243
3. Install darklord battery metre v2_fixed.cab from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=324
4. To have your battery meter give you actual % such as 33% instead of in increments of 10 install nuePowerDriverCDMADiamond-100-v1.0-cab.cab

6. To fix the HTC Volume Control download the link from here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=512254&postcount=39(Thanks opuscroakus) Open TC and go into /windows rename the HTCVolumeControl.dll to HTCVolumeControl.dll.bak use TC to place the new .dll file into /windows and soft reset. After this you can delete the .bak one. (updated 11/11/08 )

**If you just want the battery meter then download the phcanOverbmp.zip open TC and rename your current one in /windows to phcanOverbmp.dll.bak, change your registry to make it working correctly (see below for settings) once you have done this, drop the new phcanOverbmp.dll you downloaded into /Windows and and softreset. After this you can delete the old .bak one**

Make sure your registry says the following:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\security\ResOver\Bitmaps]
"BatteryIconLevels"=dword:65 (Hex) or 101 (Dec)
"BatteryIconIdStart"=dword:3e9 (Hex) or 1001 (Dec)
"BaseDll"="phcanOverbmp.dll"
"BaseId"=dword:0 updated 11/12/08


For Black EV and 1X Icons
1. For the Black EV and 1X Icons download http://www.filefactory.com/file/ca2339/n/tapres_192_dll use TC to change your old tapres.192.dll to tapres.192.dll.bak then using TC place the downloaded copy into /windows, next soft reset and you can go back in and delete the .bak one




For the Custom Start Menu Icon (If you don't want the HTC Start Icon that comes with Taskbar%20Icons%20v2.cab )
1. Install Icone Demarrer.cab found herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426264
2. The icon I have is found herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2753669&postcount=203 (read post #2 in this link for other custom start icons)
3. You will have to rename whatever one you download from shellres.192.dll.0409.mui to shellres.192.dll , after this open TC and go into /windows rename the current shellres.192.dll to shellres.192.dll .bak or .old then place the one you downloaded and renamed into the /windows and soft reset. Once you have done this then you can go back in and delete the .bak one.


For the Bluetooth Icon
1. what happen was when i edit the windows folder my pim where all the contacts are got screwed up somehow and my phone was acting funny so i did a hard rest everything was fine the i put my pim file and i stopped working but i didnt know at the time that it was that
i took it to the sprint store and they gave me a new phone and put my pim file in for me and it locked that phone up so he told me they give a new phone but i cant get my contacts i wa like alright cause there was nothing i could do
i came back home and took the pim from my computer that never was touched and got my contacts and everything is cool now
at first i took the pim off my sd card cause for some reason i have one there and that even got coppurted but it is all good now and i think i will stay away for the custom icons

I tried to follow the link in #5 but it is not working. Can any one help in reuping the link? I also have never used or done anything with Total Commander or the other program. Are these programs easy to use for a first timer whos new?

what do u mean none of the links work? the ones at ppcgeeks? you have to be a member to DL links from there.....i have dl'd tones of icons from there man.....give us some more info other than

haha my bad, i was in between classes but i am a member there and i always dL from there too but for some reason i cant get the dl fix for the battery. even when i go there it wont work for me

as said above please look at the ppcgeeks page since the author of this tutorial is there and will be able to further assist you with getting the links reupped since i dont have anymore..... the ppcgeeks link to the thread on this topic is located in the first post.

Haha maybe I should have asked that differentlty but cmon brotha have a lttle faith in me.... I did read this entire thread and there was hardly any discussion about those specific cabs... With all the info, changes, edits in the first post, I didn't think it would be so easy as installing these two cabs..... and even just like the post right before those cabs, this was said.....

sorry dont know why i got a little hostile there.... (dont even remember replying to this thread to tell the truth) right there are multiple threads that you do have to install doing this way.... if you look at around at probexs windows 7 touchflo 3d theme you iwll notice that there is just a single cab for all including the start menu..... there are pretty many out like this and is you search google, here, xda, and ppcgeeks you will find quite a few.... you would want to search for something like taskbar.

I tried to add the evo circular shaped icon by changing the extension from .dll to .dll.bak, but I did it so with the file explorer with the add on extension; I placed it in the windows folder, I did a soft reset, and then deleted the .bak one; however, I did not change. is it because I did not do it with total commander?

why dont you do a search it works fiune and its a freeware that you can get anywhere.... and right as stated you have to use total commander or resco file explorer to overwrite rom files.

The battery meter will show the percentage. And if you read threw the description he gave all the links to download everthing and how to do it

wutz up guyz i have some network icons and ev 1x available they are pngs i can resize them but i jus need sum 1 to get ready for use on the taskbar i really dont have the time to research how to actually convert the png to what it needs to be but i do suggest that we could use ts owens elite taskbar as a starting point i have that cab if needed but here they are

i was wonderin how do i uninstall the taskbar icons v2 bc they arent workin right . when i try 2 uninstall it it says darkord69 taskbar icons v2 was not completely removed. do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs. what do i do?

you need to go into the windows folder and delete the shellres.192.dll file depending on what rom you are on the builder renamed the original file and it is causing weird icons in the folders im sure. (it did it to me) tell us what rom you are on, and then tell us the shellres file name within....a simply delete then soft reset should take care of your current issue.

sktools wont delete a windows file that is registered as a sys base file....he needs to manually delete the file and it will revert to original file.

well there are hundreds and hundreds of different taskbars and icons so you prolly used a different set than what was shown in the images.

If you want them to look like the ones in the pic, install Tsowen Taskbar 1. You will find a cab for it at the link provided at the bottom of the first post. Make sure and REMOVE any taskbar you currently have installed through Settins>Add/REmove Programs.

Hey folks....this might sound weird..but has anyone got any trouble with total commander?? everytime I would go into my comm manager and turn on wifi or bluetoooth it would give me an error with "device.exe"., every time I tap the screen.just in case anyone cross into this same issue. I removed Total commander and now everything works fine. the Icons look great. I had to fix the battery metter with a registry editor since the link for the cab file was not working. Other than that, it looks great.
