Palm Threaded SMS - Messaging Application
Requirements: WM5 / WM6 Pocket PC
Overview: If you're anything like us, you've been waiting for a threaded SMS / MMS app to relieve our mobile Outlook view on messaging with Windows Mobile. Well, some dear sweet blessed soul has answered the call. Hacked directly out of a Treo 750v, which featured Palm's WinMo take on their long-lauded threaded SMS feature, now you too can have IM-like text convos with your pals with a minimum of hacking. Merely install the app, make two quick registry edits and restart your phone. (If you're down with MMS you may have to reconfigure your MMS servers.) It worked like a charm when we tested to see if it was the real deal, though we understand it doesn't work with VGA displays (i.e. the Universal.)

(This is in my opinion better than the threaded sms in WM6.1 roms....)

** To backup SMS use something like PIM Backup and save the Palmmsgv001 file in /WINDOWS
* Imports Existing SMS (10 per soft reset... thats how this program does it i guess..)

i have this on my mogul and i have to warn inless this is an updated version from the one i have on my mogul. which i doubt this is a pain in the @$$ to remove. its like uninstallable. only way to uninstall it is to like do a hard reset. also it was a pain to get mms working with this program. the mms still came in with a link you had to click on that would open up pie. also you still needed the mms hack to send mms and from my understanding that hack has recently been fixed by sprint so it no longer works. just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this program and my expieriences that i have had. the pros are it is nice to have all your text from one person in one message not alot of bunch of different ones.



oh ya i almost forgot to this really doesnt work well with the touch because when you bring the on screen keyboard up to type with the text entry of this program disappears and you cant see what your typeing until you close the keyboard best option probably to use it on the touch as from what i can see from my expieriences to is to probably use the swcked fullscreen keyboard since once you close the keyboard it will enter the info where you choosed to type it.

correct for sprint users the mms has been zapped. but this is a new version and is said to be alot more stable and really easy to set up. but i havent and cant test since i now run WM 6.1 with REV A and that comes with the best threaded sms app that i have seen

wow if you would have done a search you would have seen the app that we did have got zapped so it has to be done through email now and that is explained so do a search for mms* and please use the search feature in the future.

Just wanted to put in my imput.

Its a great application but I have had some problems. I didnt recieve notifications (ring/vibate) when recieving new texts and you still can't see the iput box when composing a new text. I had no problems with the uninstal. Im using Vito now, and like it better.

according to dash the reason why you were able to probably uninstall was because this is a newer version than the current one im using.




also i was going to reply to the member that was banned but ill just post anyways for all members. the way you get the smiley to work is you just simply click on the smiley icon menu at the bottom when your in a message. or simply just enter the smiley yourself while typeing using the symbols. hope this helps!?

hey dash or anyone i have a quick question you know how earlier in this thread i posted how you can uninstall this program and you dash told me it was because it was probably the older version and this newer version can be uninstalled!?


well what can i do or what program can i use to uninstall this program or the older version of it. the only way i know how to do it is to hardreset my phone and i dont wanna do that because i dont wanna lose all my info. so how can i uninstall the old program since going to like settings and remove programs wont work because the program stays. . .

well theres a couple ways you can do it.
1. back up data hard reset and than reinstall apps.
2. try pocket mechanic pro or sktools
3. installnew version and se if it overwrites.
4. once get rid of it try vito threaded sms.

2.install it but back up your messgaes.

alright dash i backedup my messages i installed this version and i believe i was able to uninstall it. but the thing is now that the icons messaging(1) and messageing are still in my program files. but if you click on it they wont work they come up with an error message im guessing because the program was removed and also the shortcut button on the bottom of my today screen on the left button says "sms" still but if i click on it nothing comes up i get the same error message. when the program was installed the palm threaded would come up.


basically i believe i got it done but i dont know how to get rid those lil things!?

all you have to do is click and hold on anything that deals with the app and than delete.... make sure you look in the window folders also.

ive tried that. the menu delete and like that dont come up ill hold it for like 30 seconds and nothing. as soon as i let go the error messages comes up like i clicked on it. and im not sure where the windows folder is located!?

right you have to do it through the file explorer.... go to main memory not storage card unles you installed there and go through all the folder including windows which you wil see and than tap and hold than delete all files hat deal with the app. i the windowsfolder you should see a .exe file for the app.

right it might not be named palm threaded sms it might be the name of the program that it said when installed or sms etc... try to soft reset and see what that does for you and see if they still pop up.

no but why dont you just copy and paste the file to the storage card and than take out the torge card upon rebot and if it doe delete all the messaging stuff just cut and paste back into the windows folder.

i didnt think of that lol. hmmm but should i just copy and paste the whole folder than delete it? or just copy paste the contents in the folder?


im not sure if every mogul has a messageing folder in the windows part?

i would do everything just to be safe and not have to do a hard reset.

my bad i thought i mentioned it or mayb i was thinking it but never typed it but i did do that and it did write over it for the most part where i was able to i guess delete it. but it didnt delete everything about the program like the shortcut with the softkey or hardware key. not sure what its called. the one at the bottom of the today screen on the left. also the 2 things are there in the programs section. ill try to take a screen shot to show you whats going on. not sure how though

teres a program made by vito that iuse for screenies and thats what i use. i understand what you are saying and all just really hard without having the phone in my hand to explain or see what is going on.

for the second one you would have to get rid of all traces of the appto get that off the start menu after a soft reset.
and for the other ones same thing as the second one.

huh dont know what to tell you than and to reroute as said above use sktools. easiest andbest way to do so.

been discussed in the future lease search. but open sktools/tune up/buttons/ change soft key 1 label/change te path....

top righ corner you can choose path and gives you list of installed apps

thanx man i dont think i would of ever found it if you didnt tell me inless i just so happen to decide to search one day but other than that probably not.


but ya my fav part of the theme is the clock matches the font i used in my sig. the rest is nice but i guess since im a big "FAN" of him like he my idol lol could been better pix used. but i guess i gotta figure out how to make themes and make one to my liking and post it up for all. but ya i posted a response in that thread about it 2.

yo dash not sure if you can answer me this question or not since you dont use the program. but for some weird reason now i when i try to use this app on my phone it dont work lol. i get this error when i install it.

it says "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions."

no i havnt but im actually trying that now and i have the stock rom that came with my mogul back in august of 2007 lol. but ya if your right i would feel so stupid that it was that easy lol good thing im trying that and u suggested it.

lol word..... the only other thing that it could be is that you still have traces of another aftermarket sms application in the phone or thre is a conflicting app.

Hey everyone that might still be using this program....I have a reg edit that you can do to make the keyboard move up alittle bit, so you can see the predictive text your typing...Since the keyboard on the touch will cover everything up...I don't want to take credit for this reg edit it all goes to 'khmer1' from PPC Geeks. Check it out, makes the palm sms threader much more nice to use, since you can access from the today plugin and mobileshell 2.0....

Open up registry and go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip\

go to DragStyle and change (0) to (1) than press done, remember to reboot your phone. Have fun!!!!!!!!!

actually man, I haven't heard of this problem...it should work properly on all wm5 and 6 ppc devices...

Did you soft reset and everything after install?
