GARMIN Mobile™ XT for internal GPS

Minimum Requirements: Minimum requirements for Windows Mobile, Palm and Symbian devices: 16MB program memory, 128MB storage card minimum (256MB or more
recommended), 2GB storage card for full coverage

Setup

To use the Mogul's built-in GPS you must be running a ROM version of at least 3.16.651.0 with a radio ROM version of at least 3.27.00 (to find your ROM version go to the "Device Information" application found in Start->Settings->"System" tab).

Make sure that in the "External GPS" app (found in Start->Settings->"System" tab) matches the following settings:

Under the "Programs" tab, the "GPS program port:" is set to "COM4".
Under the "Hardware" tab, the "GPS hardware port:" is set to "None", and the "Baud rate:" is set to "4800".
Under the "Access" tab, the "Manage GPS automatically (recommended)" option is checked.

Make sure that your phone's location setting is set to "ON". You can do this by launching the "Phone" app (found in Start->Settings->"Personal" tab), then:

Under the "Services" tab, choose the "Location Setting" item in the listbox, and press the "Get Settings..." button.
Make sure the "Phone: Location Setting" is set to "ON"
OK everything, and soft reset your phone

for the mogul info havent tested yet but this is the specs to enable gps i will try soon and update

i got working on myine without troubles will take her for a full spin later tonight on the way to work and tell you guyz how it works tomorrow.

hey is there anyway to get this to work on my touch? i have it all running perfectly except it cant find any satellite connection?

you have to have a gps enabled rom installed.A stock phone doesn't have it enabled.

search the forum for wm6.1 for touch. It should be in that.be aware this involved unlocking you phone.which voids warranty being these are custom roms.Also phone will be hard rest. loosing all data and programs.you would have to reinstall everything.If your uncomfortable doing so i suggest you wait for the official release.

just for future info the touch 6.1 rom doesnt have rev a enabledit wont until te official release by sprint.

they ould al be in the folders attache bro. i just downloaded and than type the address i wanted to travel to and had no problems.

Must have been a GPS thing. It's working now. Earlier it wouldn't let me view outside of AFrica. Showed my location in the middle of the water. Tnx

dash is this the one your using,or the telenav by sprint nav? b/c I jus called sprint and got unlimited text,music on demand,pic mail(i dunno why),sprint tv and sprint nav all unlimited for 15 bucks a month plus my 10% a month and 5 dollars off a month, and I WANT THE BEST? LOL

i actually dumped this and went to prnt nav through telenav since i can use telenavand sprint nav for free since i got the same package for free from retentions.

Okay, so I'm relatively new to this but not exactly a novice. How do I get the .rar to upload the app to my phone. And how in the world did you get telnav for free? I try and I try and I feel like :Flush: You guys are my heros-thanks.

you have to unzip the files to your pc and read the instruction inside the folder there is a step by step instructions and as far as the telnav what they are talking about is sprint offers a plan that telnav is included in the plan for free unlimited.

yea wcked u are rite, I believe its called the vision pro pack, it unlcudes unlimited telenav(sprint nav),sprint tv,music on demand,texting,picmail all for 30 bucks i believe.

for this to work you will need to have eithr th 3.16 rev a rom or the WM 6.1 build 5048 nuerom 2.0 by no2chem. Thanks

My ROM is dcd 2.1.0 and radio is 3.27.00. So I'm not running the right ROM?

no that should work i now that rom is really buggy and out of date so i would try to use the newest nuerom.

I think I'm missing the map file too. All I can see is Malaysia and the free ways in the US. Location searches show nothing. Can anyone help me?

the maps are built in bro your not missing them... it will get your locteion via gps satellites in the sjt for the area that your from.

thanks for the reply but I still don't see the maps. My gmappsupp file is about 20mb. Does that sound right? I followed the install instructions from the readme file in the zip and had no errors during install. Sorry if I'm an idiot but I may be missing something in the install or configuration.

20 mb is alot of maps bro.... thats all of them. you will have to have it find your location and than tell it where you want to go .

Tyboy, I never got this working either. I too saw only the major highways. I could get detailed info in Africa, but when I typed Texas into the address bar it could find the state. I watched the video and d/l and installed multiple times. it worked for me in the aspect that I could see were i was, but there was no street level info other than major Highways. It is possile to grab the maps from a torrent site MiniNova or somewhere else. I gave up on this and just used Live Search instead.

Im running no2chem 5048 and the corresponding radio and its telling me gps is OFF and "connection allowed to garmin gps device only" when I click enable it searches for a minute and then gives me a popup that says "unable to locate gps device; please verify that device is powered on and within range. continue searching? y/n." what can i do now?

bro it worked fine for me and a couple of my buddies. but for 1 of mt friends it didnt work. i think that it depends on your phones build date if this will work or not... if this doesnt work try tom tom or get sprintnav by telenav.

Theoretically it shouldnt matter if the phone is activaed correct? I had gone back to my treo until I got the rom issue all squared away now that I have that finished I want GPS to function correctly, but as of now the phone not activated, but since the gps doesnt use the phone portion ( i don't think) it should matter, right?

The GPS setup info help me get my TeleNav working, but i just downloaded this one to see the difference, from this one or the one in the membersection.

Both of them seem to be stuck and still trying to locate a bluetooth...? at the begining of the screen.

also whats the difference from the two the one on the members and this one.

Dash, did you install it exactly as it is in the readme file? I tried several times, even from different computers. Can you post your IMG files for download? One think I noticed was that the last time I installed it, I got a different IMG file (about 10mb). Seems like a base map of some sort. It now shows up in my Map Data Files inside the app, but still no streets.
