MMS Fixed Once Again For Us!!! [3-30-08]

when i can ill add screenshots i just wanted to throw this up for the rest of you guys eal quick.




Sprint Picture Mail Composer



This application can be used to send MMS (Picture Mail) for Sprint Customers. Messages will be sent via "Sprint Picture Mail". It should be an easy solution to the MMS issue, for most users. You still have the same limitations as Picture Mail, not Video support and only able to send JPEGs.

Supports sending messages to Phone Numbers or Email addresses. Messages sent to Email addresses will send a link. Which will allow users to view the pictures in their browser. Messages to Phone Numbers should work like anyother MMS for most providers, Sprint has a list of supported providers.

NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE A SPRINT VISION PLAN AND A PICTURE MAIL ACCOUNT SETUP. ALSO THIS DOES NOT ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR SPRINT PICTURE MAIL, IT JUST HELPS WITH A EASIER SENDING PROCESS. YOU SHOULD CONTINUE TO USE PICTURE MAIL ON YOUR PC.



Requirements:
WM5 PPC, WM6 PPC
.NET 2.0+
NO SMARTPHONE support right now


Installation/Setup
1. Unzip file and copy CAB file to Phone
2. Using the File Explorer, click on the CAB file to launch it
3. You can install the app to your Device, Ext ROM or SD Card
4. Once installed, go to "Start => Programs" and click the sMMS icon
5. When open go to "Menu => Settings" to enter your SPRINT PICTURE MAIL Login information.
6. Click Save.



Known issues:
* NO SMARTPHONE SUPPORT
* Can not send to multiple address
* Does not detect if Network connection is connected
* No ability to Delete slides
* No D-Pad support
* Problems sending LARGE images -2 MP or so



(to add to above known issues. One issue i "AL_CAPONE_X3" of Wckediden came across is that in the like subject or message it dont let you type letters on those areas with the slide out keyboard of the mogul. only way to enter letters there is to use an onscreen keyboard.)





FAQ:
Why do I need to use sMMS to send MMS messages?

A few months ago, Sprint blocked MMS sending using a PDA/PPC device. Sprint recommended that PDA users use the Sprint Picture Mail website. Great, for whatever reason they blocked MMS, they atleast offered a workaround/solution. sMMS helps users upload and send photos using their Picture Mail website.

So this actually uses Sprint's pic mail system/servers (ie the message is sent from your phone number vs annonymously over email)? If so, how did you get around Sprint's block? Can you access their servers over a different port than the Arcsoft software allowed or something? I guess Sprint's main issue was just the use of software that they had purchased the license for.

No I didn't find any special port or hack anything. sMMS is basically a browser that formats the Picture Mail website. To help send messages easier. sMMS is not a replacement for Picture Mail but you can use it along side of the Picture Mail website. Also it is sent from your, Picture Mail account, your number is attached just like if you used any other Browser. I imagine that it works that same as those Usage Today plugins.

How do I get a Picture Mail account?

"First check your account to see if you have a picture mail access. (i think if you have power vison you should have it..)

Next go to pictures.sprintpcs.com and click on login. put in your phone number and select "no send me a password". you should get a txt msg with your password. you can login to the site and change it from there.." Thanks Supadoggie

Sometimes sMMS resends the previous Pictures with my current Message.

Workaround: Log into Picture Mail and delete the Album "PixMailUpload", before you send another message.

What devices has it been tested on?

HTC touch, HTC Apache, HTC Mogul/Titan, Palm Treo 700wx

Note from AL CAPONE: Users this should work for all of you except for out smartphone users. sorry. if for whatever reason this should stop working at one point in time please let me and the rest of us know by posting in the thread. Your all welcome for my find to get MMS working for us again somewhat through this program lol. I personally have tested this myself on my mougl. have not had the chance to test it yet on my touch though. But im positive that it will work on the touch also.

Much props for the info. But mys people still having hard time recieving pictures and tones from me what the heezzee? I signed up on sprint an all. Can someone do some explaning? :boom:

i dont use mms any more but i hope that sprint didnt find this out and zap this too.

I fear that you may be right Dash. I've been working on a way around it...but nothing is working yet. The program itself is fine...its the connection to sprint that is not going through completely. I guess we will just find out huh?

quick question...I can send pics to people no prob, but when I recieve one the picture never shows up. I have to copy the link to picture mail and put in the the Internet Explorer to open it. Is this normal for this program?

Yes this is normal. My understanding is that the program is only used to send pics.
