A friend of mine sent me this. He uses it with a T-Mobile Dash and has liked the service provided.

I like the idea of this, and signed up for it. Unfortunately, it uses call forwarding, and sprint charges 20 cents a minute for that. So, theorhetically, if i get 5 voicemails a day (which isn't too uncommon), and they all last a minute or less (which is a little more uncommon), I get charged an extra dollar a day.

Damnit, sprint! Give it to me free!

well although sprint may no have that exact service you can check you voicemail from other phones---you can alos check txt messages online

i actually came across awhile back and was going to post it cuz i thought i was a good find but never got around 2 trying it yet myself so i never got a chance to post it. . .wanted 2 test it out before i gave you guys the info. . .

It's a great service. I used it for a month back in November-December, but I too have Sprint and my bill for the additional charges of call forwarding was in the range of $80 for the 3 lines I have. I had a message for various friends, one for my job, one for my family, etc. The feature I really enjoyed was being able to listen to a voicemail, then leave a message directly for that number while on the same call. An example would be a friend called and left you a voicemail, you check it, then leave a message for them that you and so and so will be at the Ghost Bar, so meet us there at 10pm. This works great, because you might be in the club with all the loud noises and you can miss the call, but they'll know exactly where you're at. Their are a lot of situations you could use this for, but all in all, a great service... plus it's FREE ;)

You can hit *28+number and it works where it didn't before. I did it myself and will deal with .20 if it comes to that. I haven't verified, but many have contacted Sprint CS and they stated it was taking place on the 8th. The huge factor to me is *28 was never an option before. You would actually have to call to techs to setup no answer/no etc. I have been switching back and forth from YouMail to Google Voice as the number to be forwarded to. Can be changed on the whim.Good luck to all.

I called and verified all of it before i did it to just to make sure and it was all gravy from there. Hey forty01 i know what you men by switching back and fourth it is a nice option. My sister seems to think i have a lot going on over here in my little speck of the world with all this customization i told her "get like me....be a junkie" but she can't cause she don't have a cell phone, i can't blame her on that one so i guess i will just be the sister that is cutomized, lol!!!!

well, after speaking to a knowledgeable rep, she gave me the info on how to activated it.but there's a .20 charge for each minute.I'm gonna pass on that because for one.With the plan i have i feel that that should be included and two venumx mentioned that we have it on the hero so its time to play with phone again...lol

I talked with a Sprint Rep this morning to confirm myself and my account, so I can't speak on yours, but my account has the ability and no cost to me at all. I like the Sprint Visual VM on Hero compared to not having it on WM, but being able to link my Google Voice or YouMail is a pretty nice feature to have. With thos two, I can block numbers that I don't want to speak with at all, especially since Android doesn't have a MagiCall (best call controller :) G Blocker is ok, but not all that. When I have GV or YM I can have what I want to happen to any number I have in my address book. I can make it sound like the phone is out of service or if I'm going out that night and want to leave specific messages for specific drinking peoples ;) I can. When those specific people call, it will leave a message for them and anyone else who calls will get whatever message I have set up for them. It's not just the VM capabilities, it's what comes with those free services. They also do transcription, which Sprint still doesn't offer. Just my few cents. When you look at the options, it's an easy decision to have more options, then less for the same cost. I would call a Sprint Rep to confirm what you have. From the beginning it's been stated mid-November with Sprint, but the 8th has been a date thrown around and I confirmed that I will not get charged and as I stated up above if you hit *28(and the number you are forwarding) and it doesn't do anything, then you probably don't have it yet. Again, Good Luck.

I called Sprint & got confirmation that conditional call fowarding is FINALLY free. "Conditional Call Forwarding" is when you only forward calls if you don't answer. If you have EVERY call forwarded, they charge.

The *28 Forty01 mentioned is the code for conditional call forwarding.

I tried phone fusion, the service M-soft offers & I tried out Yahoo's Youmail. They're very similar, but with a couple of key differences.

Phone Fusion requires text messages, but really offers "visual voicemail..." a panel with your voicemails laid out before you visually. Click the picture of your mom & you hear the message she left you. See that pic of your drunk brother? Don't bother clicking it... he never has anything worth hearing, anyhow. Sweet. But, it can't provide custom outgoing messages for particular callers.

Youmail doesn't require text messages, and does provide custom outgoing messages. But, your v-mail works much like it originally does. You do get MP3s via email or text. The cool thing is the custom outgoing messages. So, for mom, you can say, "Hey ma. Love you, leave me a message!" For you sweetie, you can leave, "Hey sexy, thinking of you... nude. Leave me a message." For your pastor, "Hi, you've reached Joe's phone. Leave me a message, and remember, God loves you." LOL. Sweet.

For now, I'm going with YouMail. I can set up an email folder just for it & easily access the messages that way. Functionally, it'll be very similar to visual voicemail.

Good feedback Roopull. I agree with you completely. I do prefer Youmail and that's what I'm using on my cell number. I still use my Google Voice with it's number and the transcriptions are free, not as good as Youmails however. You do get the 1st 7 free with Youmail. I could just use Google Voice for all my VM, but I like both aspects, so it's cool I get to play with them both. PhoneFusion doeshave a cheap fax service for a under $2 if I'm right and you can receive faxes through your number which is pretty neat. I do have my entire Familia on YouMail and GV, just depending on which number is called. I do use my GV as the number I now give out, so I have more control. Good Luck.

people love to call my phone blocked, then they call back with their number showing, and then they call from a unblocked number to hear all the different vm's that I have on my phone and they love it. I think this is better than ringback tones, which to me are waste of money......I love youmail......

A note to anyone using any of these services... If you're looking forward to getting the v-mails via email on your phone with an mp3 attached, there's a note of caution. You need to consider how you have that email account set up. If you're only syncing emails once a day, you're only going to get those messages once... and they may be HOURS old. I've adjusted mine accordingly!
