pic and vid messaging for htc touch

Here I am again with another issue with learning how to use my new touch. How do I send picture messages? I can only send text. When I go to send a pic, it goes through my email. Is this normal? Is it the same with video? Do I need a multimedia plugin of some sort? If so, where can I get it? :40:

unfortunately Sprint disabled this feature, and doesn't allow mms from our phones...you can download a program called Smms and for a small donation this program has the features of sprint picturemail... just used the search feature located under the top banner..
