Alltel MMS problem

I have already searched and read all kinds of stuff about sending pic msg with ppc6800 so please don't tell me to search cause I have and can't find the answer. My problem is that I have Alltel and I can only send pic msg when connected via wifi. Any other time my phone tries to dial the data connection #777. I had a razor before and I sent pic msg all the time without using a data connection. I tried changing the setting like I saw on one post but mine were already like those listed and it doesn't work. I saw solutions for this problem with Sprint phones but not Alltel. Can someone tell me what the deal is and how to fix it. Or if you know where a thread is that explains this post a link to it. Not sure what your concern is, I also have Alltel, and my phone dials 777 to send pics.

I do not have the data plan so I don't want it dialing that and charging me.

well theres your problem! razr and 6800 are two different phones that run on two different services. so unless you can explain your situation to alltel, you have no problem but a wallet that needs to spend some money on a data plan!

Thats crazy. i pay for the text msg plan which is supposed to include pics so why should I buy a data plan if I don;t want it when I'm already paying for text msg and it's supposed to be included.

right but your razor ran on different form of technology that didnt need to use data basically it was a java program sending out the pic mail.... and for a ppc you dont use java but use data/internet instead..... so basically get a data package if you are gonna send alot of mms.

So there is no program for Alltel like the sMMS one for Sprint to work around this problem? I'm not gonna buy a data plan, I don't use it enough to be worth it. Just want to send a pic msg every now and then. Thanks.

smms uses data as well bro.because it does it through sprint picture mail site.... thus logging into the site...via data connection.

I have Alltel with the 6800 and they wouldn't let me activate a new line without having what they call a smartphone plan. (of course this was before the verizon factor) I have talked to them and the data charges don"t apply when it comes to mms. It is offered with the text package. The #777 links the phone to a data connection to transfer the mms. That is the only way that alltel's network will work with smartphones. I would make a quick call to Alltel to verify this info but the last I checked they waive the fee's for the media messages. Just make sure nothing else on your phone is connecting to this line. My recommondation is to get on one of their smartphone plans so you can use that phone for what it was intended...

As long as you have a text plan your okay. Your razr didn't say dialing #777 but it actually was in the back ground. All pictures/videos are data and are sent over the data network. Your good. I work for alltel and have a 6800 for my personal phone and I also DON"T have a data plan, I just have a text plan.

you must have got ur 6800 awhile ago because the only way you can get a smartphone from alltel is with a smartphone data plan....and the only way to have unlimited texting is the 89.99 plan which is what i ahve which is unlimited data and texting its well worth it 49.99 which is the base doesn't have the unlimited text or data and well to be honest the 89.99 plan is the best welcome to the world of a real phone

i look at it this way . . if u send a pic on the razor it would cost 25 to 50 cents whatever it was so now it should cost the same to just do a min on a pic msg?

i also used to have a razor and its ACTUALLY better if u do the math . . with my carrier anyway
