umm...is anyone else having problems with their keyboards? im on my third pro and they all have had the same problem with the keyboard working intermittently and then finally just not working at all? i cant believe im just that unlucky lol. just thought id ask

nah havent had any problems with mine yet, workin fineeee i have had a few customers that seem to have problems with their keyboards in store. Weird; and its always the same ones.

yea, im afraid sprint might pull the plug on my TEP lol i honestly dont think ive been doing anything wrong. i do text alot tho....like ALOT :| maybe i wont feel so bad if i just buy one instead of getting it though the insurance again. thanks

I have had one problem before with the buttos losing sensitivity. Had it replaced free of charge under warranty. But repeated problems is weird....

well bsically it goes by batch and can almost guarntee you are going to the same stiore meaning smae batch... there were many shipments of ones with bad keyboards that give out fast...... im on my 2nd becasue of the recall with chrome on the one that i had until a couple weeks back.... i get to almost 10,000 texts a month and never had any troubles and had the phone 2 months before it was released until 2 weeks ago....... and new one is working great!! and venum glad that you are digging the pro again :)

you will be waiting some time becasue they will have many touch pros still in reserve through repairs and all that so you wont be getting the touch pro 2 for a long time..... most of the time it cant be fixed without a new keyboard or device since it is the keyboard and the sensor themselves....... if you press down on the corners while typing you will find the keyboard to work more often...... jsut send it in and with it being a common problem they wont haven any troubles sending you a new device right through tech support since it is in the way the device was made.... (especially if your within 30 days of getting your last device)

Bro you are not alone!!! May be unlucky, but not because of this...lol.. check out this thread for some more info on that.. https://www.wckediden.com/showthread...touch+keyboard I have found it useful to do as D/\sh said and if you press down on the corners while using ur thumb to press up you will start to be able to see ur letters come across the screen. I have also did what is demonstrated in the thread I linked, but don't recommend it if you have TEP...just use it. Oh, and I hope you are not paying a deductible everytime you are getting a replacement are you?? The ONLY time you should ever pay a deductible is if it is LOST/STOLEN, LIQUID DAMAGE or PHYSICALLY DAMAGED. Otherwise it is considered a phone malfunction and is covered under ESRP ( equip service & repair ) and you can just take it into a store have them fix/swap/etc and avoid paying that fee. I am on my 4th TP in a matter of maybe 6 mnths. Hope this helps bro, good luck to ya.

yea it sucks, im mostly just embarassed to walk into the sprint store with yet another borken phone lol they all know me pretty well by now :D and nah, i havent been paying a deductible for the phones with the keyboard problem just one that i said was stolen but i actually dropped and shattered the screen so i couldnt revert to stock before taking it in. im thinking ill just keep using my pro as a diamond till palm pre launches in about 15 days or so and give that a try. thanks again for all your help guys

i actually just went to my sprint store today because my keyboard went to shit and theyll be mailing me a new one tomorrow, crossing my fingers it wont be refurbished but it probably will be.

on the bright side, i showed them that on my usb charger cord the edges of the cord were peeling back exposing the interior wires for no reason at all and they gave me a free replacement

i had my first pro .. i had no problems i went ahead an sent it back because it was powering off on its own.. Didnt have an issue with keyboard.. I got this one.. keyboard went to crap in two months.. Just got on sel service solutions web site, typed in the issue they sending me another $0.00 =)

yuppers thats what i always do unless i know it will be a refurbed than i call them and demand a new one and usually get it.... but soooo much easier to do it online for free than either over the phone or in store where you are there for hours with hardly no result sincethey give you the run-around.

What's weird is that I tested yesterday opening a new word document and typing calmly and guess what? It started working again... Weird. Guess it did not like me pounding the keys in fustration hahaha. Anyway, don't know what's wrong and how long the working keyboard will last but hey, it works again lol

glad its working for you again mike and hopefully it will stay that way so you can flop back and fourth if you wanted.... you just dont have luck with phones do you hahahahaah i remember way back when i sent over that mogul and your nephew got to it, than troubles and more troubles hahaa just diesnt end for you... hopefully the pre will treast ya well and where my help i nthe pre area cmon stop slacking hahaha just messing and hope all is well mike.

i am eligible for a upgrade now, my contract just expired.. Going to wait until Nov and December and see what new phones will come out then.

i feel you.. hey go ahead an take your card out an your battery.. Give a few minutes, then put it all back together see how the keyboards works.. For some strange reason, or the HTC gods are playing games on me .. My keyboard started to work again.. Either way this puppy going back lol..

Hahaha werd, there is always a story with me, either I sell it out of necesity, my nephiew scratches it all up, or if the phone flat out hates me lol. Glad I always find a way to bounce back and get bsck on the horse otherwise I'd still have my first mogul other than the other 7 devices I have under my belt lol. I'm still waiting to get my computer back from repairs to see if I can do something other than lurk lol.

haha i just did a hard reset, i said what the heck ! still same shizzoo.. sometimes u hit an e or another letter the letter just keeps going by it self eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee lol.. Thats why i said we paid for a pro an got a diamond in return lol..

if it makes you feel better i have had two pros including my current one...... the first one had the chrome defect which i got 2 months before releae to everyone else and than my current one i have now..... so i have 2 months on everyone else and do 10,000 texts a month on average and mad emails and still havetn had a keyboard on it go... come to think of it i havent ever had a keyboard on any of my devices go bad ever and that includes the 6700 and the 6800, g1, for some of my htc devices.

UGH..........I hate hearing about all the keyboard issues with the TP! I desperately want one but since i will have to flash it to my carrier (Cricket), and wont have ESRP or TEP for replacements, it just doesn't make economic sense for me to get one which sucks!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well.....hopefully the TP2 will have the issue solved.....until then I keep plugging along with my durable 6800!

if it doesnt come in the stock box with accessories and they give you a small white envelope to send the other one back in its is a refurb.... dial ##778# and click view and scroll down to the bottom of the list or close and you will see a entry called refurbishment status and you can tell if they are new ones or refurbs by that and if refurbed what day it was refurbed on.

That's ok anyway. I haven't been using the pro since I have the pre now so I don't mind if it keeps *****ing like this. I'll just use it to test new apps and roms as a guinea pig since its not my main device anymore. Hell I'll see if I have the time to try crazaytalent's keyboard fix since I don't see much to lose there

well more may came sicne it is a common problem so might as well leave it open hahaha and you wont be getting a new one unless you get lucky...... pretty much the only ones that get the new ones are the people that pay the 100 bucks for a lost or stolen phone..... and if you are going to claim it liek that be sure to tell them that you just lost it otherwise if said stolen they will want a police report number and such and thats just a lot of hassle for not only you but the officer also.

well the numbers are dirty once claimed like anything bro you know that, they cant be used or activated again once claimed as lost or stolen,...... ive heard you say that before think it out before you type bro,, you remind me of someone like a young me when i first started, i wanted the posts and to have my number be way up there but than you realize that you have to sit back and chill out and think the answers out and such knowing you are right and giving full answers.... you are rushing through these too quick, speed will come as the knowledge base comes so look stuff up and such and you will be good.... also sit back and re-read through it sometimes to make sure it all makes sense... you got mad potential but you rush too much which makes you make the mistakes.... keep it up and keepthat in mind like i had to and you eill be fine.

Man you're not kidding, I haven't had any issues like this one yet, just last week My keyboard started giving out on me but after a soft reset it was fine for a while but now it out for good, I really hope that its not gonna be the case w/ TP2..

yeah we can only pray and keep our fingers crossed that they dont have the same issues... but with every device there is going to be there own set up troubles and problems..... just the way technology works.

You can go the route of trying to fix your phone your own. For a lot people it has worked there are some detailed threads on the site how to do it.... An refurb can work great for you or just cause you more problems so kinda luck of draw.

yup pretty much i always get the new ones sent to my account even from asurion :) i have it added to my notes to never send me a refurb and only new phones :) now thats service hahhaaa

well my keyboad just crapped out today around noon. The phone doesn't even recognize any input from the keyboard at all.

I just got off the phoen with tech support, they are shipping me a replacement TP. It should be here in 2-3 business days..........thank god the virtual keyboard is still working.

now i have to re-flash to stock and re-lock the phone........ggrrrrrrrr

since the TP2 is "supposed" to be out next month, I think I can hold on....plus I was going to give my kid the TP anyway to replace my old a$$ mogul I gave her a while back.
