Making the 6800 go nuts
Ok, so definitely have nefarious intentions here but hoping someone can help, I want a little vengeance because of this string of events.
My 6800 after about a year of owning it without any real issues started having trouble (wouldn't hold charge, keys double and triple typing or skipping over presses all together, alarm going off sporadically) so I brought it into the Sprint service center and they hard reset it (which I had already explained to them that I had already done) and sent me on my way, I waited about a 2 weeks dealing with the issues hoping it would get better, it didnt, took it in again and they updated me to the "newest" rom which happened to be one of the older one's, I tried to explain it was an older one and the tech just smiled and nodded, I tried it out with the older one for a couple of weeks and found that the problems were just exacerbated by the older rom, I loaded up the new one, waited a bit then took it back in... Fast forward 6 months and 7-8 trips to the repair center (which I have to walk a 2 miles to the train station, take a train and walk 2 miles to the repair center, wait for 1-2hrs then make the return trip, I am a cripple and am traveling with my son who is almost 2, its a rough journey). The tech at this point literally glares at me when I walk in and is extremely rude though I have always been nice, smiled and said thank you every time he "repaired" it no matter how absurd is explanations were, I guess he doesn't like the fact that I keep coming back with something he "repaired". This time I walk in and wait for over 2hrs! before they tell me they have to give me a new one because the tech "accidentally broke it in half". (Hmm ok, whatever, little frustration showing through on his part I am thinking) They gave me my refurb and I was on my way, got it home to find out that none of the face buttons work and it doesnt read memory cards, shit... I go back in the next day to a repair center that is o so glad to see me, I tell him my issues to which he responds "THERE ISN'T EVEN A MEMORY CARD IN HERE!", congratulations LT. Obvious you have been promoted to captain, I didnt imagine you needed it. He tells me he is going to order another mogul and to just deal with it for another week until it comes in, I let him know that isn't really acceptable, I have work documents and a whole lot of other stuff on that SD card and need access to it, at this point he is practically yelling when he says I have 2 options (and then gives me 3), I can "DEAL WITH IT!", He can get me my broken one if I would like that instead or he will just take my phone and leave me with nothing until the new one comes in...Yikes, cool man whatever. I go in 6 days later because I have yet to receive a phone call about my replacement, "Oh really, sorry bout that it has been here for 3 days..." I sign in at the front desk and am led over to the repair center and am told it will be 10-15min, it was pretty busy and after my last experience I wasnt thinking complaining would start things off well so I patiently waited for an hour before I got up and asked at the front desk why it was taking so long to get my replacement out of the back, to which the same woman who signed me in an hour before says "DID YOU SIGN IN?!? HOW ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO KNOW TO GIVE IT TO YOU IF YOU DONT LET US KNOW YOU ARE HERE?" hmmm ok, short term memory loss? She signs me in and after another hour I go up and get the same lady who says "hmm your name is not on the list again, its like someone in service is completing it on accident", accident, sure. Finally I got my refurb 6800, this one works well, so far, still has battery issues and alarm issues but those are pretty prevalent on the 6800 anyway so it is what it is. Ok If you have made it this far thank you, my question is at this point, with such poor service and the level of anger I am getting from these folks being so intense I really just want to continue to **** with them. Does anyone have any good idea's or ways to make the 6800 go nuts, something that a tech wouldn't find, I want to see how they will react when they continue to fail. I work customer service and have worked tech support, I am always very professional and always give the benefit of the doubt to any and every one I do business with, I understand that the issues I am having are not the individual in front of me's fault. That being said I have spent hours being nice and accepting their every attempt at completing repairs and in return I have received the worst service of my life, its as if they want me to be a good little customer and shut my mouth and accept what they give me, so now I want to make them "DEAL WITH IT" Thanks ahead of time for any input anyone would like to provide to my revenge plot! TheLastPriest I apologize for any typo's, spelling errors or nonsensical rants that may be included in the above Novel, its getting late, I am getting tired, and my Morphine, Norco and Robaxin all just kicked in at the same time right about the time I started writing this... |

Re: Making the 6800 go nuts
He is one of the repair guys, he doesn't wear a name badge and the other employees seemed to have rallied around him to where even if I asked for his name at this point I don't know if I would get it let alone a business card. I know what you mean by things being wiped by a hard reset, my original thought was to use a reg editor to change some stuff around but it would be easily wiped with a hard reset though if I kept coming in with the same problem it would still do the trick, one of his lines to me when I said the wait was unacceptable was "Sprint only cares that you can dial your phone and make a call, all this other crap doesn't matter" (I mis-spoke in my post, none of the face buttons worked except the green call button) so repeatedly taking out the ability to make a call would be pretty awesome.
If I put an alltel or verizon rom wouldnt they be able to pin that down pretty quick, say that i was using programs I shouldnt have been and void my coverage? I wish I had the money to just ditch the 6800 for the touch pro, when I filed a complaint about this guy after all this was done ecare offered me $300 off a new phone but even with $300 off replacing it is too rich for my blood (damn lazy wife and her no working ass) |

Re: Making the 6800 go nuts
I have said it before, I will say it again, you are the man my friend. Trying to decide what would have the best effect, waiting for a little while and letting them think all is well before I drop the other shoe or slide right back in there Monday with a nonworking phone and smug smile on my face lol

No such thing as impossible as long as the objective remains flexible.. There will be a solution to exacting the perfect revenge, whether this is it remains to be seen.

Re: Making the 6800 go nuts
See I was thinking about it and I dont know that we should be too worried about the hard reset. The human condition is one of hope, what I mean by that is if you want to destroy someone you dont show them an impossible goal, they will just "choose" not to care, once a failure is so bad they know they cant fix it then they no longer have a vested interest. With something solved by a hard reset we give them the satisfaction of solving the problem only to have their triumph reappear as failure within the next day or so when I return, I know as far as software goes these guys stop at the hard reset, if it doesnt solve their problem and they cant find any other issues it proves they aren't as good as they think they are, then voila the spirit is crushed and revenge is complete, I am going to start F'ing with the registry, see what crazy stuff I can make happen. lol.
