Verizon Touch Pro or No Switch from i760

Hi all!

I have a Samsung i760 (upgraded from 6.0 to 6.1)and it has served me well for the past two years. I'm thinking about replacing it with the HTC TP but I'm concerned that it might be slow like my phone. What do you think? Is there anyone out there that has used the i760 and switched to the TP? What are the pros and cons? I've heard that Verizon limits the abilites of the TP. I just don't want to get it and find out that it's an i760 with a touch screen. Please share your opinions with me!

Thanks!

Re: Verizon Touch Pro or No Switch from i760

Totally with Dash on this one.....Verizon, which is where I work, RAPED the HTC Pro, that way people would focus on the Blackberry Storm, (which by the way is a HORRIBLE PHONE! Has a 60% failure rate, and plus you cannot mod it at all, and many other things!) Any ways therefore the only other phone that verizon allowed to be decent was the Omnia, which I have messed with and is an awesome phone, great resolution, WM for starters, 5 megapixel camera, it is a good phone...I would do that.

i agree with all the above statements. verizon touch pro will be a huge letdown. the onmia is great. but if you have the funds, the best solution is to get a sprint touch pro and hook it up with verizon, there is a tutorial on how to do that

Re: Verizon Touch Pro or No Switch from i760

Thanks for the advice! I will check out the Omnia. I've setup about 15 Blackberry Storms for customers who thought that they wanted them and 13 of the 15 customers have returned their Storms because they just plain hate them or they had a defective one. I hated the "keyboard" on them and I'm hoping that the Omnia has a good one as I do a lot of scheduling, note taking and tasks on my i760. I've set up several iPhones and so far I like that touch screen the best for typing but I haven't tried the Omnia. Are you guys that have TP with Sprint? I had sprint 10 years ago and all I remember was dropping more calls than I made. Maybe Sprint has changed in the Phoenix area but I've been so happy with Verizon....they just seem to not have too many cool phones. Is the Omnia going to be a big step up from the i760 or is it going to be like upgrading my computer from Windows XP to Windows Vista? Thanks again for your advice!

its def a couple steps up if you look at the stats for each like program memory, processor, screen, os, etc..

I checked out the specs and it definately looks like it would be a step up from the i760. When I upgraded from 6.0 to 6.1, I was shocked that Microsoft forced you to be in "red menu mode" where you couldn't change the menu bar color, etc. Is this phone easy to mod and able to load cool apps like the TP? I saw this cool app running on the TP that allowed you to view current running tasks as a thumbnail type view and you could tap them to open or tap and hold to end task. That looked really cool. Also, the 8 GB built in memory on the Omnia is quite cool. I'm going to check if I can pick this up at a Verizon store or if it's order only.
