pushclient in startup - what is it?
I have recently been looking at a bunch of different issues from battery life to email questions and a lot have linked back to push email and then I noticed that I have no idea what that even is. I noticed it in my startup folder as pushclient and don't know if its even necessary. I have a hotmail account setup to check every 60 min and an AOL account that doesn't really have any options like that. So basically what is push email and do I need it to startup or is there no real reason to stop it from starting up?

Re: pushclient in startup - what is it?
well what pushmail is or "directpush" as its called is a type of email/microsoft exgange server that acts in this manner::== everytime you recieve and email it will push that email directly to your phone so basically your phone dosent have to check the email account every minute and drain battery its probally your aol account that is push email beacuase i have hotmail and i know for a fact it isnt that it shouldnt drain you battery but the touch dosent have unlimited batery life "yet" lolz so there is a post in the htc touch section that talks about conserving your battery life i think its labled 'brattery life" or domething like that check out that thread it should give you some tips....now for the second startup question as follows:: direct push will be activ aon startup but u can diasble it whenever you would like by going into your comm manager and disableing direct pus
tell me how it goeas and hit that rep |

Re: pushclient in startup - what is it?
Thanks. Yeah, I went to the comm manager and it was actually greyed out, so I'm guessing that its probably not even in use. So I guess its starting up but not even being used, so I'm not too worried about it. But the battery life has been really good so far. I've only had it for a week now but it's been great. I had just noticed it on other threads about battery life and was just curious what was really going on. Thanks again.

Re: pushclient in startup - what is it?
Do you know how/if its possible to set up push email on my gmail account?
Basically the problem is right now I have to manually 'send/receive' to check my email, or use the automated feature which i can only use to check every 5 minutes. I have several friends with BB Pearl's, and they use gmail accounts as well, however emails on their phone will show up right away. |

Re: pushclient in startup - what is it?
Thanks for your help dash, that tutorial worked out great. I did try to search initially (how I found this thread) but I must not have looked in the Tutorial forum...I had one more question but I just posted in the thread you linked me to, figured it was more relevant in there.
