HTC Vogue/Touch and Mac
Is there anyone out there that is using D/\SH's cool stuff and syncing the programs through a Macintosh? I have a Touch, Mac with Leopard, and the Missing sync. I wanna do this but am wondering if there are any issues that need to be resolved, or should I just buy XP and put it on my Mac?
Thanks...Anyone |

Re: HTC Vogue/Touch and Mac
Im running on a macbook pro and I am doing pretty good for the most part. If yo look around enough you'll likley find most programs in cab format. As for exe files you'll have to run boot camp or do it at work.friends places. However I have gotten around SOME exe by using an exe extractor program named file juicer. there demo is only good for four days so make sure you have a big collection. It only extracts cabs from maybe 1 out of 6 programs. I pretty much everything I want on the phone with the exception of a few games (worms world party and a few sequencer / synth/ mixer programs for making music on the go) all with a mac probably sitting near 40 apps installed on my htc-touch.
Do you need a card reader for cabs and the "missing sync" program makes it pretty easy if you can get it. Its actually allows you to synch your mac apps with the outlooks based stuff on the thouch (itunes iphoto iCal -> outlook calendar and more (can't remeber too late need to sleep.) |

Re: HTC Vogue/Touch and Mac
Fuzz,
I think you actually fell asleep during the last two sentences. I'm trying to decipher if you are asking a question or are just making a statement. :smile_mini2: I don't use a card reader. I have missing sync from Markspace on my mac which does a pretty good job on syncing. I could have figured it all out if it wasn't for D/\SH and Tigerz help though. mad props to those guys. if they have it in exe, they have done a cab for me in the past...which is really cool. This site has taught me alot about my vogue, although I would still consider myself a noob, maybe a stage 3 noob if there is such a thing. My only prob is I went ahead and got XP (bootcamp) and when I sync with "Missing Sync" and then turn around and sync with activesync, it automatically adds an new user to my phone and overwrites my phone with new/added files, contacts, and schedules and also adds the old stuff that i have deleted from the phone (which makes me go back and have to delete each schedule individually from vogue) Any suggestions? Hope I made sense....btw, I'm a talker if u can't tell :} |

Re: HTC Vogue/Touch and Mac
you will need magicsync is im correct and than the fiels you mentioned you will be straight with. you jut cant use exe files since those are ran on a windows computer but the rest of the files can be ran on the phone. (tsk (theme files) cabs, phone exe)

Re: HTC Vogue/Touch and Mac
Thw horrors of missing synch. It forcably overwrites all my stuff so I don't use it anymore. I just use the mount feature.
There is another program I have found that may help though I have not used it very much and it needs to be ran on your touch. I think its called unz or exe2cab (or both) I would upload it but unfortunatley its saved only on my micro sd card and its currently having a fit. Its corruted and it hasn't sorted itself out for a few hours now so I'm afraid its permanent. (testing out sandisks rescuepro) Keep in mind its going to slow things down allot so save everything that your doing before you run it and then soft reset afterwards. I have only tried it once. |
