Noob: PPC6800 and Me 2Qs

Ok I have some general questions about modding my PPC6800.

First question, when I put cab files or what have you on my storage card to install a program, after the installation is complete, can I remove the cab file or does that cab file affect the program?

Second, using HHC (HHCv10b5 w/ 6tab) I'm having difficulty with getting the weather to work, I tried a custom location first, I entered my info in the following format in the fields that specify the certain info,

Field 1
City, State
cityname, stateabbrev

Field 2
Country
USA

Field 3
Zip/Location Code
Zipcode

after saving the correct info, it still will not work. So I then tried a default location for my city and still does not work. Is there something else I am missing?

I guess this is all I'm wondering about atm, any help is appreciated.

as for the first question about the cab files, it is fine to remove the cab files after installing an application, the only reason i ever leave them on there is to share the programs with others so i can just send the install file to them, but basically the cab file is like an install exe on the pc, you dont need it once you install it. The weather location issue is a bit more complex and could be a number of things. When I originally released the weather/6 tab plugin I realized it did add a lot of locations however it still left out a few, my town being one of them so i tried a neighboring town which is usually the same temperature/weather and now it works great. Hope this helps, maybe someone else will have a better solution, but for now it's definitely a worth-while workaround.

I have a follow up question on that, when installing programs on my phone, do I have to install them on the device itself or can I install them on my storage card to keep the memory on the phone clear?

I have a follow up question regarding programs and storage, when installing a program it gives me the option for Device or Storage card, can I install programs on the storage card to keep my phone's memory free'd? or will they only work installed on the phone itsself?

Edit: ok weird now one of them is showing... the site having server issues?

wasnt showing upp because new mwmbers are moderated and we the staff have to approve what they are posting manually. bu it depends on the app. some will run fine on the strage card and others willl run glitchy. its more of a test to see where to install but to be safe igf you dont have many applications i would run on the main memory. and we can really give you a run down of whch apps go where (which has een aske before) because there is over 4000 apps on the site and thats alot to type and test out lol.

there may have been a temporary glitch in the server because my post did not show up either. it is always in good practice to install things on your storage card to maintain a good level of performance from your device; however there are a few occasions that disallow you from doing this. A lot of system/folder-reliant applications have to be installed on the main memory. Some examples may include, but are not limited to, contact managers, different cubes, vtap, htc audiomanager, 6-tab plugins, weather fix...things that you would normally think would need files from the system. Ringtones can also be put on the root of your storage card to keep space free on your main device also.

Since this thread seems to have some good answers why waste it.

I'd like to get to the bottom of the weather problem I'm having with my HHC.

I've tried several different default cities around the US one of which is my city, and none of them can retrieve the data needed... I've tried several different custom ones using abbreviations for state and non abbreviated, using US or USA for country, nothing seems to work. I live in the largest city in my state so I would think there'd be something =P

Venum you mentioned a weather fix, could this be my problem? that I haven't applied said fix yet?

yessir i would say so Grand Rapids MI is a major for medical so i got lucky. but do a quick search for weather fix* and you ill find it

I'm having difficulty downloading attached files on threads...
I think I got one to work one time, every other time, it just
leads to a blank white page. Is there a specific browser requirement
for downloading "Attached Files"??

Nevermind I just read the announcement saying most all of the attachments were lost in a server upgrade.
