How to silent text messages

When I get texts I open them up and it doesn't stop ringing. It keeps ringing untill the song is over and is annoying. Is there a way to silence a text message. I know for incoming calls you slide the scroll wheel and it silence's the ring, but what about for texts?? TIA

this is already answered please search before posting in the future. all you have to do is chop the tune that you want down to around 3-5 seconds and than use that. there is no way to make it stop or be shorter since it is going to play the whole song that you have. so thats the only way that you can do it that i know of.
