T-Mobile Wins Cases Against Pre-Paid Traffickers

T-Mobile announced that it has won two separate cases in Texas involving traffickers of its pre-paid phones. The traffickers purchased T-Mobile phones in bulk, discarded the original packaging, hacked them, and then resold them at a profit. T-Mobile won an injunction against the plaintiffs, which prohibits them from buying phones in bulk in the future. If the defendants violate the injunctions, they will be subject to fines. One set of defendants were fined $6.5 million. T-Mobile is pursuing similar cases in federal courts across the U.S.
