Prior to running the ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU),
please take the following steps: It is recommended that you close all programs on your PC prior to starting the update program and do not open any applications or files while the update is in process. The standby and hibernation modes are disabled on the computer. Click here to view instructions on how to do this. If using a laptop, make sure your laptop is plugged into a power source. Ensure that your device has a battery level of at least 50% (Start > Settings > System Tab > Power > Battery Tab). If the battery "dies" during the upgrade process, there is a chance that it will not recover and will need to be sent for repairs. The update can take up to 25 minutes so set aside time when you will not be interrupted. Do not interrupt the upgrade process or press any buttons until the process has been completed (the device will reset itself when the update is done). If you are having challenges connecting with ActiveSync, please try the following on your device: Start > Settings > Connection Tab > USB to PC and de-select Enable advanced network functionality. All data will be deleted from the device during the upgrade (music, pictures, 3rd party applications, etc). Be sure to back up all of your data using ActiveSync (Windows Mobile Device Center, if you are running Windows Vista) prior to upgrading. Re: HTC Touchâ„¢ (Alltel)
Thanks for keeping an eye out for this!
--------- New Post Merged on 18/10/2008 at 03:25:40 -------- Something odd... So I upgraded to WM 6.1...and it rendered my TCPMP usless. I go to launch it, and it says to send 'crash.txt' to the developer. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall TCPMP.. and no dice! Any Ideas? And is this even the right place for this question? Re: HTC Touchâ„¢ (Alltel)
Nevermind... I just needed to do a little research. Turns out there's an issue with WM 6.1 and TCPMP. I found a version that was recompiled for use with 6.1... and it works like a champ! I am wondering how to activate the GPS in my Alltel Touch. The update page said it would enable it... but I can't find any settings for it, and I tried google maps with their GPS 'Find my location' and it couldn't locate any GPS Satellites. What am I missing here?
