Need help with Video cards
Ok so i just bought a panasonic ZS3 and will be editing videos in HD, this camera records video in 2 formats: AVCHD lite and Motion JPEG. Since im going to be working with hd videos from now on i'd like to upgrade my video card to whatever is the best thing for my pc, so if anyone knows about video cards please advise me on this. Thanks
PS. Im not a gamer, just need this for video editing and for some reason my pc sometimes crashes while watching youtube vids, it's random but happens(IE or FF). Here's m pc specs: HP(Vista Ultimate 32bit) Intel Core2 6700 @ 2.66GHz Ram: 4gb NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT |

i do movie editing on my computer, and i use Nvidia, with 512 mg of deticated ram, you should be good with that, or get nvidia with 1 gig of deticated ram. but nvidia is by far the best video card out there. PS. if your monitor is old, then it could be your monitor that is crappiing out on you, you might want to check the refresh rate on your monitor, cause that can cause it to black out. |

agreed, nvidia can be pricey, but its well worth it if you save up for one of those. much better color output. and if she is doing video edit, then color is VERY important.

Re: Need help with Video cards
did you just call me a she?? lol shame on you!! I think my video card has 512mb also, but as I said before for some weird reason my pc sometimes freezes while watching youtube vids, i bought this pc a year and a half ago, so it's fairly new(tower and monitor). Thanks for the inputs!

Re: Need help with Video cards
monitor your video card temps with rivatuner and the like...your video card might be overheating thus the freezing..
Get a Evga 9800GT that should be good enough for HD video editing or GTX 260 like i have...both cards have gone down in price a lot. oopps forgot to mention also consider that you have a OEM branded computer HP...not all higher end cards may fit in the tower...so do some research. |

--------- New Post Merged on 19/8/2009 at 11:31:57 -------- that is true, the card could be overheating, if you do choose to get a new card, get one that has fans built on it, mine has two fans and never had a problem with it. keep in mind also that my youtube tends to freeze, but i found with mine it can sometime be a connection issue through the internet. if your computer and monitor are a newer system, i can't really see it being the video card at all. your gonna want to do some more troubleshooting before going out and getting a video card, your problem could be completely unrelated to your video.
