Samsung to make 2nm AI accelerator chips for Rebellions
Samsung has announced that it has partnered with chip firms ADTechnology, ARM, and Rebellions for the development of an AI CPU chiplet platform. Despite being the world's second-biggest contract chip manufacturer, its advanced process nodes haven't been used by many big-name brands recently, but its 2nm Gate-All-Around (GAA) process will be used by Rebellions.
Samsung Foundry will make chips using its 2nm GAA technology The new AI CPU chiplet platform developed by ADTechnology, ARM, Rebellions, and Samsung Foundry will target AI/ML, cloud, data centers, and high-performance computing (HPC) segments. Rebellions will integrate its REBEL AI accelerator with ADTechnology's compute chiplet that is based on ARM's Neoverse Compute Subsystems (CSS) V3 technology. This chip will be fabricated using Samsung Foundry's 2nm GAA fabrication technology and advanced chip packaging solutions. This new AI chip from Rebellions promises unparalleled performance and 2-3x improved power efficiency for GenAI workloads. It uses high bandwidth memory (HBM) for faster performance. The REBELS AI accelerator, after its integration with ADTechnology's compute chiplet, offers a future-proof acceleration solution for the growing AI workload. The REBEL chip was originally announced last year with Samsung Foundry's 4nm process technology. The collaboration between four chip firms is expected to greatly enhance AI computing capabilities and a standard for scalable and efficient chip solutions. All of this is based on ARM's Total Design program that was introduced last year to create an ecosystem of partners for faster custom chip development. Taejoong Song, Vice President and Head of Foundry Business Development at Samsung Electronics, said, “AI and HPC designs require technology solutions that deliver maximum performance, high transistor density, and energy efficiency. Samsung Foundry’s 2nm GAA process is designed precisely to satisfy the most stringent HPC and AI design requirements, and we’re excited to leverage the flexibility of Arm CSS and the power of the Arm Total Design ecosystem to deliver an AI CPU chiplet platform, which will further accelerate adoption of our leading-edge technology and design solutions for hyperscalers and cloud service providers.“ The post Samsung to make 2nm AI accelerator chips for Rebellions appeared first on SamMobile.
