Samsung Health gets improved food and medication tracking, health records
Samsung Health has received three new features that will improve the overall experience for users. The app is getting improved food and meal logging, better medication tracking and integration, and a way to access health records from health organizations.
Samsung Health gets food logging via barcode, medication scanning, and a way to fetch health records Samsung has announced that it will release a new update to the Samsung Health app. This update will add three new and important features:
Samsung Health already allows you to log your meals to track your calorie intake. Now, Samsung has added a barcode scanner so you can log more details about your food, including its name, calories, and nutritional facts. The company has brought this ability in partnership with popular food logging app fatsecret. This feature will be available in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, and the USA. It will be expanded to more countries in the future. The Medications feature was added to Samsung Health last year. Samsung says it is among the most popular features of Samsung Health. It is now getting improved functionality, allowing users to use their phone's camera to add medications to their medication list. Users can check dosage, schedule, and medication progression. Medication tracking will now be available in India and South Korea. In India, Samsung has partnered with Tata 1mg to offer refill reminders and a shortcut for buying those medications via Tata 1mg. In South Korea, Samsung Health users can receive warnings about certain medications, such as the ones to avoid during pregnancy, through Korea Pharmaceutical Information Center (KPIC) integration. In the USA, Samsung has partnered with Elsevier to offer warnings regarding over 960 allergies and potential complications. With the new Health Records feature in Samsung Health, users can fetch their medical records from clinics, hospitals, and diagnostic centers. Samsung has partnered with b.well Connected Health, which maintains the largest electronic medical record systems in the USA. It has also partnered with athenahealth, Cerner Health, Epic Systems, and Veradigm to offer alerts and meaningful insights. The story continues after our Galaxy Watch Ultra video below. Together with these three new features and Galaxy AI, the Samsung Health platform is becoming a one-stop shop for tracking food, heart rate (and other health complications), medications, sleep, and workouts.
