Select Samsung smart TVs have an image option called Color Booster, which can be found in picture settings. When turned on, Color Booster saturates and brightens parts of the image, generally making red and blue colors punchier. Now, Samsung appears to be working on a pro version.
A few days ago, on November 15, Samsung filed a trademark application for “Color Booster Pro.” As of this writing, the trademark application is under examination. Samsung applied for this trademark in the Class 9 list of goods, specifically for chips and software designed to enhance and modify the image of TVs, monitors, and digital signages. ![]() As of now, a few possibilities exist. One is that Samsung might want to trademark Color Booster Pro to prevent anyone else from using the term and misrepresenting its existing Color Booster feature. Another is that Samsung might want to rename the existing Color Booster feature to Color Booster Pro without necessarily planning to change how the feature works. The most interesting scenario is that Samsung is working on an enhanced version of Color Booster. Right now, TV users can turn Color Booster off or select between the “Low” and “High” presets. The story continues below The Color Booster Pro moniker suggests that Samsung might be designing a more powerful Color Booster tool that could give users more control over how the image is processed. As usual, take this information for what it is. Trademark applications don't always result in real-life products, so we will have to wait and see if Color Booster Pro becomes a thing. If something comes of it, we're guessing Samsung could implement Color Booster Pro in select 2025 TV models. Next year, Samsung plans to release a new Tizen 9 OS upgrade.
