[NEWS] One UI 7.0 beta release for Galaxy S23 seems unlikely this month

It's been about a week since Samsung started rolling out the One UI 7.0 beta for the Galaxy S24 series. The beta was first released in Germany, South Korea, and the USA. The full list of countries eligible for One UI 7.0 beta is much longer, and other markets will get it in the coming days.

There was an expectation that Samsung could soon start rolling out the update for other devices, particularly the Galaxy S23 series. However, that seems unlikely now, given that the series has begun receiving the December 2024 security path.

The One UI 7.0 beta wait continues for Galaxy S23 owners

Samsung today started rolling out the December 2024 security patch for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in South Korea. The update bears firmware version S91xNKSS5CXKA. It's as pedestrian as security maintenance releases are, with nothing much to write home about other than the patches it applies.

This isn't a good sign for Galaxy S23 owners who have been patiently waiting for the beta to arrive. The new beta builds are typically rolled out with the following month's security patch, at least that's how it has happened in the past, so this would suggest a similar outcome.

There are other devices that may get the One UI 7.0 before the Galaxy S23 series does, such as Samsung's foldable phones, so it's entirely within the realm of possibilities that devices other than the Galaxy S24 models get the beta, just not last year's Galaxy S series.



Good things come to those who wait, and Galaxy S23 owners will be very happy once they do get the One UI 7.0 beta. It brings some incredible new features like the Now Bar, more security and privacy enhancements, a brand new visual identity, and much more.
