[NEWS] Galaxy S23 lineup gets December security update as users wait for One UI 7

While the Android 15 and One UI 7.0 beta for the Galaxy S23 series is unlikely to come before next year, the 2023 flagship is getting more secure thanks to a regular new update that's rolling out this week.

Samsung has released the December 2024 software update to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, and the Galaxy S23 FE. The initial rollout appears to be limited to Europe, but it shouldn't take long for the update to go live in more regions.

The new update doesn't just include security fixes from the December 2024 security patch for Galaxy devices. It also comes with an improved version of Samsung's Auto Blocker feature, at least on the non-FE models.

When set to the Maximum setting, Auto Blocker now disables communication with all devices (except chargers) over the USB port. Auto Blocker can be found in the phone's Settings » Security and privacy*menu.

The latest update can be identified by the build number S711BXXS6DXK8 for the Galaxy S23 FE and S91xBXXS7CXK6 for the S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra. To download it, head into the Settings » Software update menu on your phone and select*Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware from SamMobile and install it using a Windows PC and a USB-C cable.
