Rss Feed Meet the first laptop that uses Samsung’s rollable OLED screen

At this year's CES expo, Samsung Display showcased several OLED display prototypes in several form factors, shapes, and sizes. One of those panels, which Samsung Display calls Slidable Flex Solo, is already being used by a laptop brand. The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, which uses it, will launch in July 2026.

Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 uses Samsung's 18.1-inch Slidable Flex Solo rollable OLED panel

Samsung Display said that the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus G6 laptop, showcased at CES 2025, uses its Slidable Flex Solo rollable OLED panel with a brightness of up to 400 nits. When rolled in, the laptop has a 14-inch screen (2,000 x 1,600 pixels) with a 5:4 aspect ratio, but when rolled out, it extends into a 16.7-inch screen (2,000 x 2,350 pixels) with an 8:9 aspect ratio.

The laptop has a 14-inch screen in regular mode, but when you need a bigger screen, the OLED panel can be rolled out to have a 50% viewable area. In its expanded form, you can arrange two regular-sized app windows (16:9 aspect ratio) vertically.

The panel also features the unpolarized Eco² OLED technology, a first in the laptop display industry. It has been used in Galaxy Z series foldable phones since the Galaxy Z Fold 3. It integrates the polarizer into the panel using on-film encapsulation, resulting in 30% improved power efficiency.

Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 specifications

In terms of specifications, the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus G6 laptop features an Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 processor, which is paired with up to 32GB of DDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. It runs Windows 11 Pro.

The laptop features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a 3.5mm jack. It also has a fingerprint reader and a 66Whr battery that charges using a bundled 65W USB Type-C GaN charger. It will cost a whopping $3,499 when it launches in mid-2025.

Youngseok Kim, Vice President and Head of Samsung Display IT Sales, said, “As the rollable display extends, it may experience stress, but based on our foldable mass-production experience, we have designed to ensure durability in our rollable products. The rollable display will bring innovation to IT devices, especially in terms of laptop mobility and user experience in daily life.”
