The P9 Express microSD card, announced by Samsung at the end of October, is now available for purchase in the USA. It's highly durable, fast, and aimed primarily at gamers.



Not mobile gamers, mind you. Most Galaxy phones don't come with a microSD card slot, and even on premium tablets that have expandable storage, like the Galaxy Tab S11 series, modern Android OS doesn't support gaming from microSD.



No, this powerful microSD card is instead aimed at Nintendo Switch 2 users, and it couldn't have come at a better time.



Of course, nothing's stopping you from using this microSD for other devices, such as digital cameras, but it's interesting to see Samsung specifically mentioning that the P9 Express is optimized for the latest Nintendo console.

One of the main standout P9 Express features is its speed. With sequential read speeds of up to 800MB/s, it's up to four times faster than conventional UHS-I cards.

Author's Note: Nintendo Switch 2 game cartridges have a maximum capacity of 64GB. Most Switch 2 games might not exceed that size, but some, available only digitally, will.



Depending on how many digital games you plan to buy for your Switch 2 console, you may want to choose a larger 512GB P9 Express.



From personal experience, after several years of buying digital games for my original Switch, I had to swap out microSD cards. In the end, I ended up buying a 1TB card to save the hassle.



At the moment, there is no information on whether the P9 Express will be available in larger capacities.
