Has Samsung quietly killed its Music Frame speaker?

The Music Frame speaker, which was launched two years ago, may be facing the same fate as Samsung’s The Serif and The Sero TVs. While Samsung has not made any official announcement, it is increasingly looking like the Music Frame could be discontinued.



The speaker was introduced at CES 2024. It is designed to look like a photo frame, similar to the company’s The Frame TV. Users can insert a printed photo or artwork at the front so that it blends into home décor. The concept itself was quite compelling, which is why the absence of a newer model is a bit frustrating.



Samsung did not release a follow-up model in 2025. And now, CES 2026 has also come and gone without any mention of a new Music Frame. Instead, Samsung unveiled the Music Studio 5 and the Music Studio 7 speakers. They follow a very different design. The Music Studio 7 looks like a conventional bookshelf speaker. While the Music Studio 5 has a more playful design, is still nowhere close to that of the Music Frame.








So, has Samsung quietly pulled the plug on the Music Frame? Signals definitely suggest that may be the case.



The Music Frame is currently out of stock in some countries. And Samsung was heavily discounting it last year. Sometimes, it was selling the speaker for nearly half its launch price in some markets. Such discounts usually appear when a company is trying to clear its remaining inventory.








A newer model could have addressed some of the original model’s shortcomings.

1. The current design leaves a large white bezel around the inserted photo, making the photo appear smaller than it should. Or it could even launch a ‘Music Frame Pro' model with a full touchscreen display to showcase any photo you like.
2. Samsung could have refined the design to allow the entire front surface to be covered, without requiring users to buy a separate Art Panel.
3. Samsung could have added support for Eclipsa Audio, which Samsung developed to rival Dolby Atmos.
4. A built-in SmartThings Hub could have turned the Music Frame into a smart home control center.
5. A one-button playback feature, similar to Music Studio speakers, could also have been a good addition.

Instead of refining the Music Frame concept with a successor, Samsung appears to be shifting its focus back to more conventional speaker designs.



If Samsung is indeed discontinuing the Music Frame, and I hope it doesn't, it feels like a missed opportunity. In a market crowded with similar-looking speakers, the Music Frame stands out as something genuinely different.
